You ask a difficult question. I think depending who you are, you use different methods. For me I have a visual mind. So when I write it is like watching a movie.
When I think of a car speeding this is what I see:
My white Porsche sped down the narrow two lane road, its tires squealing and smoking kicking up small bits of gravel. My hands vibrating on the steering wheel as I watched intently the road ahead of me. I watched houses blurring by and fence posts pass to quickly to count. I pressed down harder on the gas and felt myself pull back into my seat and the hum of the engine became a loud purr like a cat being stroked by a fire.
I tend to be very descriptive... I think about things that happen. Like the gravel flying.. the sounds... It isn't an easy thing to explain to do when I use just the imagery in my head to write. Sorry I can't be of more help.
