I don't think Manchester has better music than Liverpool, it just has more music. I'm not a big Beatles fan (would rather listen to the 80s music from there), but if people want to vote Liverpool for the Beatles alone, be my guest.

The Manchester music scene isn't what it used to be, unless you count my band, we're awesome (j/k, we haven't even gigged, yet!)

Isn't Sheffield, the home of Def Leppard and The Full Monty, a pretty happening place?

For Manchester there's Oasis, The Bee Gees? The Smiths, Doves, Joy Division/New Order, The Stone Roses, The Chemical Brothers, Elbow, Happy Mondays. While for Liverpool you have The Beatles, Echo and the Bunnymen, The La's, Shack, The Coral. It's close but Manchester edge it for me.

It's in a different historical county (the modern electoral ones don't count for rivalry - but Manchester and Liverpool are both historically Lancashire) and it's not in this particular competition.

You missed out The Fall. You will suffer greatly for this.

:P

I'm not gonna go and list all the Manc bands because people can wiki it, ditto for Liverpool. I just wanna say that Liverpool also had Space (the first band whose album I ever bought)

I thought the Brothers Gibb were from the Isle of Man.

As far as I can tell, I have no music by anyone from Manchester or Liverpool. It's a 0-0 draw.
