Where is a good place to write without getting distracted?
also how do you fight that urge on days when you don't feel like writing?

For me, it's not so much as where, but when. I prefer to write between 12:00 and 3:00 in the morning. That way, my wife and daughter are asleep, and I'm free of any distractions. I do admit, I do have CNN or MSNBC on low, as no noise for me can get a little too creepy late at night, and when I'm writing horror.

I do both when and where. Early morning or lulls in the afternoons when I'm either invigorated or relaxed, in a quiet cafe or at a desk specifically for work. I handle noise better than others might, though, so cafes aren't for everyone.

Sometimes you won't feel like writing and there's nothing you can do except go forward with it. I've managed to improve my productivity with small daily goals for word count or pages/scenes edited. That minimum is just to keep me from stagnating, but I might reward myself or take a day off if I wind up doing multiple sets.
