A WACOM device is a surface you connect to your computer. It lets you use a pencil like device to paint! I have an older model Wacom but it’s basically the following…
http://www.wacom.com/intuos/large.php

I paint with Photoshop. I use brushes, but instead of the default brushes that come installed (because they suck)

I use a collection of specials brushes to speed up creation time. I got all my brushes from http://rapidshare.com/files/22271789/Brush_Set.abr

With these brushes and my Wacom I can make stuff, like the following, very quick.... like 10-minutes quick!

I first heard about the power of Photoshop brushes from here http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/dle01.html

Needless to say I highly recommend getting a Wacom, Photoshop CS3 (or better), and those brushes... and having fun! :)

kxmode: Check out this sketch-up video! You're very talented. I think you would excel at sketch-up (and it looks fun):

And keep painting!
