Yes well I did suspect that wasn't you either

As I said before NT wannabes

Actually, you've got the attitude that you think you look like your avatar

Most have when it's some wanky photo like that

The first 7 seconds of this Alan Partridge video express my thoughts perfectly:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1SZMiMj5_k

my avatar is from the cover of a movie about a drug dealers last day before going to jail. Its about as counter representative of myself when taken in its original text as you can get about me. Why do I have it? I like the color contrast, the actor, and the movie. I even cut off the dog as i dont like dogs.

Also, whats wrong with being NT? Are you another of the often prejudiced death to all NTs type?good luck with that, especially when you are the minority.this world follows few rules, but one of the major ones is assimilate or die.

I'll die then because the day I turn into a twatty NT is the day I wouldn't want to be alive any more!

And does the drug dealer go to jail in the end?

What a shame

What wonderful role models we have these days

You seem to be well-immersed in American culture; I assumed you were American

FFS so you do actually live in America?

But you prefer not to learn how to spell the English language properly?

If you're referring to me you're wrong - I've met a number of people off dating sites, as stated in my posts, so who exactly are you referring to?

OK, never mind, I HAD to see where this whole ridiculous argument got started. My take on it, if anyone wants it... Boo is just expressing his experience with online dating. Everyone's going to have different experiences. Obviously, mine so far is pretty radically different than his. No reason to get pissy about it... I didn't even read any of page 5 of this thread hahaha

I don't care if you read it or not; you seem rather a self-obsessed, up-yourself person so it makes perfect sense to me.

Yup. biggest self-obsessed prick in the world right here for posting a thread with the original intent of helping myself and other people who may be in my situation and then calling people out on hijacking it to internet-bitch-fight like 5-year-olds about semantics regarding something that has NOTHING to do with the original topic. God, I must be a real f*****g douche.

OH, and nessa238... I gather from actually reading all of the pointless rambling in this thread this time that you have something against "wannabe NTs"... just wanted to say, I'm PROUD to be a wannabe NT. The day an Aspie stops wanting to be more NT-like is the day that Aspie fully gives in to their disorder. I'm proud that I never have and hopefully never will. AS is a SYNDROME, a series of PROBLEMS. It may be a series of problems that yields some interesting positive results in some people, but it is still a series a problems. To hate people by default who don't have these problems is equivalent to sitting back and allowing those problems to fully consume you, which is something I hope never ever to do.

The fact that some of the members on here are decrying people who are making a strong effort to improve socially as "NT Wannabe" is unfortunate. Perhaps it helps some people here feel better for not trying. But in the end, regardless of who you were, you either have the traits worthy of diagnosis or you don't.

Pabalebo is spot on and I have no doubt in a few years that he'll dramatically improve socially while other people here will be in the same exact position they were years ago.

NTs have PLENTY of problems caused by the way they think and act - far more than we do in reality!

They live very inauthentic lives - that's the main thing I'd say against them

I wouldn't worry though as you seem to be well on your way to being just like the average NT - probably why your posting style grinds my gears so badly!

You've got the NTness down near-perfect so well done!

Do you post on NT forums as well as this one?

If so, how does that work out for you? I'm genuinely curious

I'm very interested to hear how you get on with your date too - I hope you'll be giving us regular updates

No, I'd never decry anyone from trying to improve themselves; my problem is with people who try and emulate a mindset that is usually ruthless and intolerant and conformist in the extreme. Individuality is looked down on and mocked as maintaining the status quo is what Nts are all about.

The OP sounds very NT-like, which he should see as a compliment if he values being NT so much.

I mix with NTs and I push myself outside my comfort boundaries on a regular basis so I am certainly not standing still.

I seem to just have a different philosophy and set of ethics to the average NT one

I suspect the competitiveness of the OP's sport stands him in good stead in terms of developing an NT mindset which is 'win at all costs' usually

Also he may well have been nearer the NT end of the ASD spectrum than many in the first place hence it's less of a struggle to
adapt if you already effectively have a foot in both camps
