For me, a woman who digs history trumps a woman who digs carpentry—though I greatly respect women who are carpenters.

It’s more a matter of emphasis, really. I’d rather read about the Crusades than go around fixing things around the house. Though there’s nothing wrong with fixing things around the house.

In college, I noticed that athletes liked dating other athletes. I wouldn’t want to date one.

I think all of this is more about finding people that you have stuff in common with. It’s great to be able to share special interests with someone. Having a similar outlook about life and politics helps, too. Not that couples have to agree about everything.

I would like to find a partner who's into art and music, because that's what I'm into.

Having similar interests with your partner is great, and having separate interests broaden your mutual capabilities.

Who is Peabody?

When I think of Peabody, I think of Mr. Peabody in Rocky, Bullwinkle, and Friends.

Also women while you value your degrees and high paying jobs, men do not value that when looking for a potential wife and mother.
The 1950s are calling, and they want their attitude back.

Look closely at the ad. It's a Hardee's ad. I don't know from how far back but the 1950s imagery was intended for humor. Had you seen that ad in a magazine at the time you'd have understood. Actually quite clever when I think about it. "Come down to Hardee's for something sloppy and ill prepared" LOL.

Hardees only lasted a few years in the 1970s in NYC.

“Hurry on down to Hardees, where the burgers are charcoal-broiled.”

My advice for anyone with a degree is don't get too cocky. A cocky graduate who thinks their intillectual capabilities exceed most of those around them just come off as abrasive. It's a good way making men and women run a mile.

Oh many of us already know this, Almost 2 decades ago I was an interview panel and one of the applicants who just graduated with an MBA was so cocky (I think she was highly self-confident) that she started giving us demands during the interview. Imagine her surprise when she wasn't selected. It turned out she had never held a job in her life.

My company is very heavily orientated on the apprenticeship side. The fresh degree graduates are overlooked when tradesmen with years of experience are just yards away in the workshop and can be called upon anytime for a "promotion".

Tradesmen often become engineers, draftsman and managers. Even I've been asked to bypass an entire apprenticeship by my employer and go straight to fully qualified tradesman after years of steel work. Many fields of work are so far removed from classroom learning that they just don't translate well into an immediate degree.

With no practical work experience, graduates have the odds stacked against them when completing with lesser qualified people.

This is one of the reasons why I just don't think much of a degree (depending on the actual degree) when I'm aware a date has one. The numbers of people with a degree who never make use of them is mind boggling. It's better to get established in a particular field in some way and then do a degree once that foot is well and truly in the door.

But nope...."I have a degree in art I completed 10 years ago, you dare ask me why I work in Wallmart. What have you got pauper?"

Never a good impression on dates.

My sister is an example of someone who massively benefitted from her looks. Growing up, she was a petite attractive blonde with a pretty face and I'm sure if she wanted to, she could have done internet modeling. This is in contrast to her, no offence, rather moody high strung personality and little to no talents, career opportunities, or aspirations. She never went to college either.

She rode on her looks all throughout her teens and twenties; many men wanted to date my sister and she had no shortage of boyfriends from the ages of 15 to 21 before ultimately getting married to her long time boyfriend at the age of 25. Almost all of her life from puberty and beyond, she was in a relationship and never had to once, work on herself in order to find a partner. My sister is a classic example of pretty privilege.

The story does not have a happy ending (at least for now). Because she was so beautiful in high school, her looks got her in with the cool crowd, which involved a lot of drinking and partying. As a result, she picked up an alcohol habit and now in her thirties, she was never able to quit. Her husband of 5 years left her because he could no longer deal with her addiction, her refusal to get help for the addiction, her high strung personality, and little to no career aspirations. Now she's a 33 year old divorced woman who can't hold down a job, and is in and out of the hospital once every 6 months for drinking problems and it wouldn't surprise me if she's dead by her 50th birthday.

This is in contrast to me. A 5 ft 2, scrawny, autistic, nerd, who had trouble making friends and couldn't get a girlfriend even if his life depended upon it. I never got involved with drugs and alcohol because I was never cool to begin with BUT I am definitely a well rounded person with lots of different interests.

The moral of the story is, be careful what you wish for.

I see this thread has been thoroughly hijacked.

A nice person with a good heart is likeable. Her looks don't affect her likeable, they affect how attractive she is.

An attractive person who is rotten is unlikeable.

Unless the sex is so good that the personality does not matter.

The "best sex in the world" will not keep me coming back to a woman who treats me like crap.

That makes me doubt that you have ever had the "best sex in the world".

Probably not.....but I don't give two craps.

"The best sex in the world" is not a priority of mine.

I've had excellent sex, though.
