ah give the kid a break. it does say your 'ideal' partner. I'm sure he doesn't carry a clipboard round

This is where it starts. I'm not saying it's all his fault that he feels this way, but he's at a point in his life right now where he can realize different things and not fall into the same ol' boring "she's gotta be like a genius talented awesome tomboy supermodel who's into everything I'm into and loves me for me" ideal that becomes almost every man's ideal. I say "almost" because a lot of men, after enough years of being disappointed that their ideal doesn't exist, start to get a clue and figure out what kind of partner they really need.

are you saying it's just men who do this? fairytales have a lot to answer for

and i don't think his list was thaat bad. for the most part he just listed traits that are usually said to be admirable in a person. along with a few physical preferences, which is fair enough

I will likely stay a virgin for the rest of my life because I can't find a woman that I am attracted to who is attracted to me too.

You have good taste, but I'd prefer him from his Kyuss days.

Okay, I'm just going to base this on what I don't like:

(1) Must be capable of seeing things from other people's perspectives.

(2) Must be capable of social reciprocity. I have a friend who has told me a lot about her problems and constantly tells me what a great friend I am. The other day she asked me what grade I was in. At one point she said she was in love with me, but I wonder if she knows what that even means.

(3) Must have life experience and a sensible worldview. Must sort of understand himself and how he fits into the world. Must have spoken to enough people to kind of understand how others work. Must be keenly aware of how little he knows.

(4) Must be both honest and tactful (simultaneously). Must not alienate my friends and family.

(5) Must be capable of relating to me and understanding the gibberish that comes out of my mouth. Unfortunately, people who can relate to me tend not to fulfill #1-4 on this list. Or maybe I have just been looking in the wrong places.

(6) I must be able to relate to and understand him.

(7) I must have fun with him. We must also be able to do things together that aren't fun. We must be able to enjoy each other's company without purely focusing on each other.

(8) Must be good at resolving interpersonal conflicts. I'm not the best with this so hopefully he can compensate :D

(9) I must be able to appreciate his good qualities and neglect his bad ones. Usually this means we were friends before we were dating. At the same time, he must appreciate me.

Ultimately, it boils down to:
(10) Must cause more happiness than frustration.

Someone sensitive
Someone who has been through, or acknowledges what I feel
Somewhat decent looks(not even close to good, just decent)

Um...I think some of the lists are made as a joke but most of them...yeah.

I don't think it's demanding much to ask of a partner to accept me for who I am, is it? Because that's all I really put as my requirement...I think. My memory sucks. I made two posts in here on what I want, one in emo-form and the other in a normal mindset. >.>

You only meet half my requirements, then. Now run along... 8)

I would like someone who is exactly like my husband, except not currently napping so we can go run errands.

I don't think I have one. I'm short and have yellowed teeth so I expect I'll be with out love for a good portion of my lifetime. :P
