What age did you become interested in romantic relationships
I been wondering how my life would have been if I developed a desire to be in a romantic relationship when I was say 14 or 15, instead of 22. My life would have been a living hell, chances were I would have never gotten a date in high school and be rejected by girls many times. I would have become very miserable and depressed and probably given up on having a romantic relationship plus resigned myself by now in being single for life ![]()

I started doing something about trying to get into a relationship in my early twenties, and found a similar problem. I had no real friends at the time, or any kind of social life, and this becomes an obstacle, because, apart from the obvious reason, if you let on that's the case, people are immediately suspicious. Actually, that reminds me of a big argument I had once that almost ended in violence: "Yeah, we all started to think there was someting wrong with you, ascan, when you didn't introduce us to any of your friends...". But I digress. So anyway, I joined a dating agency in order to meet some females — this was before internet dating got off the ground — and I have to admit that I lied to them about the rest of my life as far as friends and socialising went. Of course, that was inevitably self-defeating in the longterm, but I was so desperate for some sort of companionship, that it seemed the only option. It worked to a point, and that was aided by the fact that back then meeting people in that way still had a stigma attached to it, and so most of the women were fairly desperate themselves.
I tended to find I got bored with most of the realtionships very quickly, and think the self-esteem thing you mentioned played a part too. I found that once I knew I could get some sort of brief companionship and sex, then it no longer became such a cause of angst. The women I've known, usually got bored with me fairly quickly anyway, because I'm not really into socialising, I can't articulate a lucid conversation about the things that interest most people, and I'm unable to intuitively react to, or convey, the kind of emotion females need — usual AS stuff, I suppose. There was an exception to that though, but even she ended up f*****g off with an NT bloke.
These days I don't actively look for any longterm female companionship, though I don't completely rule it out. I think it's better to have a few friends for some kind of occasional company, than rely on one woman who might leave you with nothing.
[Yes folks, ascan's in a reflective and non-combative mood this morn.
I got my first kiss and taste of romance last yr, and I've never felt so special. My age? Together the numbers equal 5, and I'm under 21.
