The cougar definition, as far it's meant in my region goes beyond just what age of man a woman dates. It's also a personality descriptive. I think once the term cougar spread in the popular lexicon, it took on different watered down meaning dependent on where someone lives.

As for age differential, I'd agree with what others have said, that any woman dating in the age range of what her own children or under the half plus 7 rule can be considered to be robbing the cradle. Whether she's a cougar or not, is different. For example a 30 year old woman dating a 20 year old would be robbing the cradle since she's going less than the half +7 rule, but she wouldn't necessarily be classed a cougar.

A cougar around here is any woman of roughly 35 years of age or more who pursues men much younger than her. She is sexually forward and pursues the men, as opposed the other way around. Also, very important is that she dresses and acts in a way that sends the message that she is on the hunt and she tries to act younger than her age, dressing provocatively (often tackily and inappropriately for her age) similar to women in their late teens or twenties. She goes out clubbing to cougar bars and also acts like a twenty-something. She makes extraordinary efforts to stop the aging process, often ending up looking ridiculous. She's a flashy, single prowler. She could also end up in a relationship and stop prowling, but she still exhibits the other traits of cougarhood (Demi Moore is a cougar as is Samantha on "Sex In The City")

A MILF, on the other hand is simply any woman of "mothering age" (I'd say probably 30 or over) who is considered hot by young men.

Demi Moore (or Kutcher) is a cougar in real life as well. She's married to that Twitter freak Ashton Kutcher.

P.S. This might be tacky, but I know some MILF's in their early 20's.

I've told my girlfriend that when I get her knocked up she'll be a MILF XD

Basically I think that you don't have to be a certain age to be a MILF, just be what exactly what MILF means. "Mother I'd Like to F***"

"twitter freak"

Yeah, that's why I used her as an example :)

Considering that technically speaking any female past puberty can be a mother, than any woman with a kid could be loosely called a MILF if she has a kid. I dunno, something about the term MILF the way it was originally (as far as I know it was first used in the movie "American Pie" for older women) used kind of thwarts it from being used for really young mothers, but that's just me. I guess it depends on where you live and what you consider the norm for mother age.

Yeah, I know. But still....would you really call a 21 year old mother a MILF?

hmm interesting. So, it seems that MILF has come to be broadened in its usage. I always took it to mean (for the guy using it) any woman close to his mother's age, not just any woman who is a mother.

But it could also be because I tend to define a MILF as literally as the acryonym describes. Like if someone was only 30, but their kid had already had kids, and the 30 year old was someone I'd approach for that kind of behavior, she'd be a GILF. lol

I take MILF literally, too. It doesn't seem like an age thing. Cougar is somewhat repellent to me as it feels derogatory. I think of it as describing a woman between 45 and 55 but I have a hard time accepting the predatory idea behind the term as that implies that the man is defenseless, which of course is rarely the case.

Nowadays MILF is quite a broad term. Any attractive mother qualifies for it by default, no matter their age, but it can also be used for attractive older women even if they don't have kids.

Men get called "rich old man" or "sugar daddy".

Just seems there are so many more terms for women than there are men.

There is always an equal an opposite term. It just isn't as popular usually. Men usually prefer to use more offensive and vulgar terminology, myself included.
