Seconding the praise, Sunshower. Without your insight, I would have been begging my bf for a 2nd chance instead of understanding on some level that he needs time and space for his own health. While it hurts to be apart, I love him, and am putting his health and well-being first. I feel so much tenderness and protectiveness toward him.

I hope you find someone who is as tender to you.

If you never do another thing in this life, you should know that your eloquent, thoughtful letter has probably helped dozens of NT's like me to go on in spite of feeling torn apart. Your reply was such a comfort and brought so much clarity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Best...

Sunflower, your post responding to Greendragon 2 years ago was just found by me.

There is calm where there was angst and gradual self-undoing with self-berating introspection trying to figure out what I did or could have done to cause a wall suddenly to go up in a blossoming, sweet friendship.

Love Greendragon's approach to looking at this time as if the other went off to sea for a while.

It seems to me that the "art" of this situation is finding ways to stay connected without being disrespectful of the others' need to be alone and being clear (to NT self) of any potential motivations to get attention/response. Only unconditional care/love can underlie any communications.

How important is sending caring words that don't require a response so that the other knows they are not alone/supported (or is that just my NT need?).

Valuable heartful reading. Thank you.
