I would be very impressed by a guy who could pimp my car! :)

It's not really the hobbies themselves that's impressive or unimpressive, it's how passionate the people who have these hobbies are about their hobbies and how well-rounded they are as a person.

A person who simply likes to play video games (as in on a healthy level) is a very different person from a person who dedicates all his spare time to playing video games, and the former is less likely to wind up on an internet forum whining about how he's still a virgin and how he should stop being such a nice guy because it's obvious that women like jerks and he's just too damn nice for them.

Threads like this are ret*d. All women are different and have different interests/hobbies. If you're an otherwise decent guy they would like, they're not gonna lose interest just because you like playing video games or you're interested in racing. Likewise, if you're a prick they're not gonna suddenly start liking you because of a shared hobby you have. Just be yourself and don't be desperate or over-analyse the whole women/dating subject.

5. ....I guess there's really only 4.

Crappy list of generalisations which you yourself just said is incorrect.

Most girls like movies (usually romcoms) so I really don't know where you got that one from. The video games one is more understandable but there are some girls who do like games.

The fifth one should probably be "stereo systems".

I am an avid gamer and love games, but I can't say if a guy told me he was a gamer that I would be impressed. Everyone i've been with WAS a gamer but I didn't like them BECAUSE of that.

How about chocolate-coated kittens? Roll the two into one! Oh, wait! You mean live kittens? You have to be more specific!

an extensive movie collection AND movie knowledge is very impressive.

Perhaps to a handful of woman. However due to the large percentage of single men on dating sites who list watching movies as their hobby, I am not convinced that most women consider it an impressive hobby.

You shouldn't be looking at impressive. You should be looking at compatible. And my daughter will definitely someday want a man who enjoys movies just as much as she does.

I would suggest that the problem with someone listing both video games and movies is that is seems they don't get out much, and that will narrow the field of women down quite a bit, since most single women are very social creatures. Still,, if that is who you are and what you need, there is no point hiding it, because the date will figure it out soon enough.

I would be very impressed with a man who had knitting as his hobby!

very tiny print: as long as he wasn't better at it than me

As for loitering, it depends on the kind of loitering! I love to people watch. That's a kind of loitering, right?

Lol, in which case saying, "people watching" would be more catchy.
