I'm kind of snob unfortunately. I just have no interest in dating someone who isn't intelligent. They don't necessarily have to be as intelligent as me, but they do have to be smart. And they have to be curious--I'm not interested in people who are smart but lazy and don't care to learn. That applies to friends too. I'm just not interested in people who can't hold an intelligent conversation.
I really don't know if I'd like to date someone more intelligent than me. That is because I've yet to meet someone who I know for certain is more intelligent than me (well, I have one friend who may be, but I still tend to do better than him in school because I'm a harder worker). That sounds arrogant, I know, but it's true.
I think what would be my ideal would be someone who has the same intelligence as me, but different areas of knowledge so we could still learn from each other. However, that isn't actually necessary--it would just be nice.
This pretty much describes me, however, when two people have been that way their whole lives, and meet each other, it can be quite volatile, because they're so unused to someone being on their level. In my longest relationship, we had some truly spectacular debates, but my mother saw changes in me she didn't like- I became a bit submissive to him because the force of his personality was so great, and eventually, I had to lay down the law that he was not allowed to treat me lesser, or else I would walk. Things were...indescribably wonderful after that.
I think it's best when two people are of similar intelligence, but have different views- it helps them refine their thinking, changing it if necessary, and developing it more completely if not.
