lots of different ways, but one common theme is that i would never ever date a stranger who approached me in real life. it always felt too weird and offputting.

  • friends first
  • work/school
  • introduced by friends (i saw him around and heard about him, then asked for an introduction in a roundabout way)
  • online dating
  • WrongPlanet

(Talking to self again) How comes I haven't met anyone off WP yet? Pfft.

I don't think there was one time when a guy approached me. I've had one long-term boyfriend who I met IRL at an AS group. The rest aren't worth mentioning. I always messed up the timing. Nevermind.

This is the 1st time I've ever considered this question. I am surprised to realize that overwhelmingly, I met my serious boyfriends through friends. I met my former husband through a friend.

The only notable exception is one guy I dated for a short time; I ran into him in 3 different contexts before he asked me out and I consented; he was an occasional customer at a restaurant where I was a waitress, we both played at a bridge game at school, and finally he was in line next to me at the student union cafeteria; we had lunch at the same table and he asked me out. When we were no longer dating, he walked into a restaurant where I was with a girlfriend and he came over to our table. They were married within a year.

He was my best friend for three years or so.
We didn't meet in person til July of this year.
We met online.

all of my ex's where friends long before we dated. its kinda weird to just go up to someone and ask them out.... if someone did that to me i think i would kinda freak...
