not wanting to date someone because they are an aspie like you seems close minded. has he considered the fact that maybe theres other people with aspergers that are more on the NT side of the spectrum that he would be attracted to if he could just get past his close-mindedness? i dont know this person, but i'd suspect this behavior is linked to self-depreciating thoughts about his aspergers.

as for me, i would really like to date a girl on the spectrum. unfortunately they seem to be more rare than someone finding a brick of gold on the street XD.

im also attracted to NT girls too. im not picky in that way. seems kinda foolish to judge someone before you even know them based on them having something on a spectrum, even if you dont know what side of the spectrum they are on.

Well I do not know any as women but as a general I have no preference either

what I look for most is a women who can put up with me weirdness.

I can say that I have a much deeper level of understating with My as friends that with my NT friends

This is sorta weird but I have found I have always had a strange sense of solidarity with those with bi polar

I find while the two conditions are not really alike but the stigma placed on them is.

Both, but more the extremes of both.

I like either extremely social butterfly like, extreme "NT" kinda girls, or I like girls, well, like me. Not always nerds, but more, if we're thinking in Meyers Brigg, the ISTP kinda girls. As far as neurological, well NVLD is sorta rare, but I think from what I've read from girls with NVLD, they seem to think most similar to me. So if I can find a girl with NVLD, it might be pretty cool, but it's rare to find people with NVLD. A girl with Aspergers might be OK, but it's still different from my NVLD, so yeah.

So yeah, either super bubbly hot NT girls, or I guess NVLD/Aspergers. I DO NOT want a girl, regardless of neurological or psychological profile, with extreme social anxiety that requires me to accompany her everywhere and do all the negotiating or whatever. I like a girl who does not need me to handle her affairs, and order for her when getting fast food or something weird like that, and constantly need my accompaniment whilst venturing out into dangerous places like Walmart. So in that sense, usually most extroverted NT girls are better at that, so yeah.

I don't know if that's really conclusive of a post, but yeah.

I've never met a "normal" person....let me know how that goes!

OK seriously, I dont know if I'm even qualified to post here considering how my one aspie relationship just crashed and burned (I'm NT) but I loved it and him. We balanced each other beautifully. He (appeared to be the kind that) wanted to be around me all the time. I loved that. I adored the openness, the oversharing, the lack of social limits, all that was just a relief and cute. I was very relaxed and unafraid to be myself with him. I *am* older, I think that just made me more patient, understanding and easy-going.

But what do I know?

I do agree somewhat with tronist, only that people have their own preferences. I would rather date NTs only because I think that with a fellow aspie or autie, I'd feel uncomfortable when voicing my own problems when they have theirs and that trying to solve each others can become hectic... I think you get the point.

It's nice to hear the positive side of Aspie relationships with NTs for once :)

Shame it didn't work out though :(

I think I may have just met my first AS girl, but I dont think she knows or has been diagnosed, or shes the next-best NT thing. Im smitten, but I dont expect anything to come of it because, well , women I like almost never seem to like me. Its always chicks that i find stupid, bothersome, or for some reason otherwise unnattractive that find me somehow irresistable.

I wish we lived in a society where we could just walk up to a woman and say: "I think you're the s**t, wanna go fly a kite?"

And actually end up flying a kite.

I have several Kites. They havent been out in a while.

Theyre not as much fun to fly alone.

Why? They make life interesting!

The stereotype is that Aspies tend to need a lot of alone time & personal space, have problems dealing with strong emotions & dislike affection.

That stereotype describes me perfectly, I actually start to feel trapped and detach when someone shows too much affection or emotion. I'm afraid of commitment and I can't stand being around someone for a prolonged amount of time. I'm someone who needs space otherwise I become overwhelmed and stressed since it's difficult for me to process emotions or provide emotional support.

I'm like that with my family & friends & most everyone else but I'm like the opposite when I'm in a relationship with someone. It's like I have some kind of protective wall put up to keep my distance from most everyone & the real world. That wall comes down when I'm in a relationship & I'm more my real self. It's kind of like I'm two opposite people; the one I am in the real world to cope & deal with it as an adaptation & then there's the real me that I am with my partner. I become very dependent on having my partner as a result of that & also having some OCD & other anxiety issues; those have gotten a little better. I'm also very caring & instinctively feel very protective towards people I'm close to emotionally. I'd like to find someone who will appreciate those things about me & I tend to be more drawn to people who have issues themselves so I guess I would rather someone who is not a normal typical women but the Aspie vs NT thing is not the deciding factor. That's enough rambling here for now

Most of the aspies I get along with have a preference for normal women. They balance out traits we lack.

I can't say I'd have a preference of a so called "normal" woman over an aspie because everyone has problems it's just to what extent those problems affect a person's life. I've always been more concerned as to whether or not a person has major insecurities about themselves that will ultimately affect our relationship.

I prefer abnormal guys, normal people just don't really make much sense to me.....though so far it seems like I have better luck with being single than dating,

One advantage of dating a Non NT but not necessarily someone on the spectrum is you never have to feel inferior or like the other person is weird because you both are in the same misunderstood boat and you can show your worth though your understanding and acceptance of each others quirks.

I need "normal" to balance out my "abnormal".
