a back up plan to what? I highly doubt he was with another chick

If he is using you as a back up plan, you are only something to fill the void or gap whilst he looks for someone else that he thinks is in his league. You know for a fact that you will never be number one with this guy, he is most likely using you because he feels validated by female attention because his last pursuit ended in failure. I'd say be very wary when approaching this one, I can't say if he is genuine or not but something doesn't sit right with this one.

Don't let your naivety or need for a relationship get the better of you and settle for second fiddle, trust what people on here are telling you, otherwise this could end badly.

It could be that he panicked when he realized that you were looking for a more serious relationship than he was, and needed a while to figure out his feelings for you. But it might as well be that he had another iron in the fire which didn't work out, or simply wants another round of sex after which he will leave you hanging again.

He might have some trouble with that, I just don't know how I feel about sex anymore...and I am not exactly sure how to explain that to him. So if that is really the case I guess it will be pretty clear when I figure out how to express that I mean I am not sure if its due to psychological issues or if I'm just asexual or something.

His last attempt ended in death, apparently this chick he was dating ended up dying so and he did not seem to want to talk about it which was understandable.

A text takes less than a minute to compose. One asking for you to give him some space would only take a few seconds. If someone cares, they wouldn't leave you hanging like that. You would do it for him, no? Why hang out with someone who wouldn't treat you the same way?

texting back and hanging out are two different things.

I think I deserve an explanation for what his reasoning was, I certainly do not have to hang out with him, but the irritation of having no idea of what the hell happened bothers me much more then texting back and getting the impression he just wants to do it again. And as I said he would have a hard time of it anyways as I really am not interested in any more sex at the moment. If he's chill with that and wants to hang out again I might think about it......but yeah I have to be clear about that because its kind of an imporant detail.

I agree, the moment you start buying his excuses and letting your guard down, you're cheating yourself and allowing for him to gain ground, he will know he has you in his palm on the whim of a text message. If he finds it to be acceptable behaviour, he will think that you are an easy lay and that he can have the milk without buying the cow so he'll use you and lose you when he finds someone better.

What do you people don't understand about I am really not interested in sex right now and am going to be perfectly clear about that to him, if he doesn't like it I doubt he's going to want to hang out with me again anyways. I already said I have no plans to go meet him any time very soon not that if he sends me one nice text im going to go out of my way to go see him again.

I'm sure he can use his charm and silver tongue in order to overcome your lack of interest in sex.

Avoid this man. He's bad news.

You've taken it too literally. What I meant was - why communicate with someone who wouldn't treat you the same way?

That's kind of insulting...implying that someone has no self-control...sheesh.

Sweetleaf: do what you feel you need to do. I'm in a similar situation now (well, kind of--if you're interested in details PM me) and I understand your need to know what happened before and what he wants now, if anything.

You're not an idiot. You'll know what to do (or not).

Remember a person can always rationalize what to do or think they know what to do without truly realizing it is detrimental to them or that they are being emotionally and psychologically manipulated. This guy could easily feed her a pack of lies and play the whole nice guy under the radar act to get into her panties whilst playing her.
