The ratio is 1 female for every 4 males, and that is only those who have been formally diagnosed. Factor in the undiagnosed aspies and "hidden" aspies (those who have the characteristics, but who have no knowledge themselves of AS), and it could be 1:3 or even 1:2

Yeah people and scientist can debate the numbers but I know the WP user base
and I standby my 10 to 1 rato of single aspie males to females.

I am defining single as not in a relationship and looking for a member of the opposite
sex. The number of females on wp that meet that is very low. The number of males is
very high. I say thats the real world percentage. And since aspie affections is mainly advertised via WP its the same there.

Even though I don't go there, I agree that people should add a picture.

I mean, I wouldn't even look at profiles without one. They are so vauge, could be anyone.

Argeed. How do you know the person on the other side isn't creepy guy in Kansas? A picture helps prove you are who claim too be.

This should be the reason that people look only at profiles w/ pics.

But on the regular (non-aspie) personals, I fear that women only look at the pics of guys who look like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

For the records, I look like Jared the Subway guy, or maybe Quentin Tarantino.

The extreme inbalance of single aspie men looking for single aspie women,
the low percent in the populations, the small number of users on aspie dating site,
extreme long distance seperations between most user on the site , the likely false
notion that aspie on aspie love match would be better, etc Is the reason the site has
had little growth. You got two kinds of aspies men those that understand the odds are slim and those that need to study math more.

Likely people who are not NT are just as likely to get along such as ADHD, OCD,
Panic disorders, social phobia, etc. So the aspie dating site has to reach out to those
and build a larger base. I guess a high percent of certain personality types like INTP,
etc will also have some PDDs. So trading links with some other sites like that might
help increase the poll of users on the dating site. If the inbalance of available aspie men to women is as great as I think it is (10 to 1) then at some point you have to say
to your self 9 out of 10 aspie males want find an aspie mate so a dating site that does not include a large number of non-aspies females will be doing a dis-service to aspie males.

You might come up with another site name that will not use aspie that could be used to promote the site to a greater pool of non-NT people. You would still keep the aspie afection name and that link would just resolve to the same site. The user would only see aspie affection if the link referal data said they came from aspie_affection or choose to click on it. Others would see a more general name. Use the more general name to promote to the non-aspie community.

(At the risk of sounding dumb, or like I'm trying to be something I'm not...)

Word.

I mean lets be honest, how many NTs are on there pretending to be aspies who are hell bent on putting their feet in their mouths? The possibility that I might say something they don't consciously understand, and hince they might become easily offended? AS forums/personals (etc) are being taken over by NTs. It's obviously no different here either. I'd be willing to date a NT girl, as long as she's respectful and ADMITS OPENLY THAT SHE KNOWS NOTHING OF WHAT LIVING WITH ASPERGER'S IS LIKE (perhaps this wasn't the nicest way to word what I'm saying but being nice doesn't ever get my point accross though).

Hold on a second.

I'm not quite sure I'm getting this.

You think (whomever "you" wants to be) that two Asp people together is a GOOD idea?

I thought that the statistics say that there's one out of every 10,000 people with this.

Of course, I can't remember where I read that, but I'm sure hoping it's WRONG if you (again, whomever "you" is) think that there's "someone for everyone".

Whatever happened to "opposites attract"? I don't know who an opposite of an Asp would BE, but they'd probably be on medication.

I'm CLEARLY going to have to check the website.

Jen

p.s. I TRIED to upload a photo, but I guess the avatar or whatever didn't LIKE my photo because it put a big stupid red X where my face should've been.

As frustrating as it is for the guys, it's great news for the ladies. ;) I'm very interested in the demoscene, and women are in a very small minority there. Needless to stay, women in the demoscene don't stay single for long. :)
