Trust me it isn't like that.

Definitely. Cute is way hotter than hot :D

Hot seems to be an American term or at least something a Gossip girl viewer would use.

It is only an american term? It denotes attractiveness but, solely in a sexual way.

I sure wouldn't mind if some nice lady sauntered up to me, put a hand on my chest and said, "Heyyy - you're cute!"

I was called by my ex girlfriend and she meant it as a term of endearment. So it's okay to be called cute at times.

I call my S.O. cute and vice versa, I sure hope he's not trying to signal that he "doesn't see me that way"

also, puppies and babies are cute

and I use cute to mean good (which I think may be a slang thing, not sure of the size/placement of the region it's used) so if something is bad "that sh*t is not cute"

"cute" can mean a lot of things, context is everything

I disagree. "Cute" is one of the few terms of endearment I would ever use, it would be intended as a serious compliment, and I would never use it to someone in the friendzone. So apparently it varies depending on who's saying it!

ETA: To me "handsome" or "pretty" would be more neutral terms that I would use to describe someone to whom I felt no attraction.

I've been told I was cute. And exactly - if you hear that from a woman, it's rarely because she's interested.
It could be expressed with equal ease as "[generic compliment; do not consider a potential partner]".

I don't think so, at least not for me anyway. You may be right in your case(s) but I wouldn't know about that. I like cute and I would consider a "cute" guy as better relationship material than a "manly" guy, most of the time. I'm sorry if I'm being inappropriate here but I've seen your posts before on the Love and Dating section and it seems to me as though you feel you don't have much hope in dating anymore, and I saw you say once that you're unattractive. But you mustn't feel that way. I just want to say that if that is indeed you in your avatar, I don't think you're unattractive in the slightest: quite the opposite, in fact.

So Troo! HDM you always seem extremely pessimistic/as tho you only see the worst aspects of women in relation to you and having relations! Over and over women share their real life experience about going for th eshy gy (and now theyre happy together and/or married or what-not) and you insist on basiclaly calling these women liars.

Indeed, if that is your pic, you are a very good looking guy but perhaps with such a bad attitude that girls are probably afraid of you! Open your heart, look for signs of a big hearted, sweet, quirky girl and tell her the truth that you think shes"CUTE"! and maybe that you have AS. A lot of women are total softies for honesty. (which you deny, but quite a few women are trying to tell you- thats how tthey got with their guys!! !)

I use cute to denote any, all or some combination of the following:

1) They do or say something that makes me go "Awwwww!"
2) charming without intending to be
3) innocent, or seems to be innocent
4) playful
5) good looking in a boyish / youthful way

It doesn't mean I am personally attracted to them, but it doesn't mean that I'm not attracted to them, either way I'm not likely to say whether I am personally attrcated to them unless they ask me that directly.

Cute is the most annoying word ever; You can never truely know what they mean by it.

As said in the above posts, it can simply mean they do find you some what 'interesting' though you've been friendzoned, to put it short.
However, they could also mean it as you're sort of playful and sweet as such, you say 'cute' things that make them smile, etc..

To sum it up, I have no clue; Girls are mindf*cks. 8O

So you find me cute considering I've made you reply with Awww... on two occasions if I recall right? :)
