I disagree with this concept. There is no "transaction" about it. I don't use my friends and they don't use me, so I don't see why it should be any different in a relationship. People are more than a list of arbitrary pros and cons and it's not right to judge someones' worth in such a shallow way.

Fair objection questionable grounds, we ultimately on a conscious and sub conscious level know what we want from our partners, the idea of this topic was simply to see what we value about ourselves, to see what we bring to the table..
When i'm looking at a girl i have a set of things i am looking for, i would imagine its the same with everyone else, the people with nothing to offer or who cannot offer the illusion of advancement from a relationship with them, always remain single.
It's why i am tired of topics focusing on the "i am so x i look ugly x"
We need to be reminded of our good points going forward, because if we cannot condsider ourselves worth going out with, how the hell will anyone else?

It is a transaction in the sense that both parties add value to the others life, if one party did not condsider the other person would add value to their current state then why pray tell would anyone wish to pursue a relationship with said person?

No one is saying either party is here to be "used" all my topic is asserting is that people tend to aim for people who compliment there own character, so it would be good to get a list of things that make us worthwhile, knowing this going forward allows people to feel good about themselves, in turn making others see value in being with that person..

This might all sound cold callous and calculating, but that is exactly how the human mind is and moving too far away from that uncomfortable truth, serves nobody any good..

Take this for example, if i am not keeping in shape, i would wonder why girls don't want me? i would have an entitlement issue, that in reality is entirely distorted.. you want to be able to say i keep myself in shape so i am valuable, why should i expect her just to be mine?
does the universe owe me a fit girl whilst i get fat? no it doesn't..

If i am going upto someone feeling like i have nothing to offer, how can i convince them that i have something desirable to want?

it's also things you can bring up in conversation (sorry to use you as an example sandra), sandra has 3 degrees, from that i can automatically tell she is smart, she is educated, hey those are 2 values that work on my value system? I want to know more immeadiatly

I am not saying in any terms that peoples value, has any merit on these point's however i am saying it is how you WILL be judged.
