I'm not the right person to ask for how to keep in touch if you're not using Facebook, etc. Phone calls and coffee dates?

Do people really use FB for this?

Old acquaintance/schoolmates/friends add me or accept my add but no one really bothers to message or to reconnect again, really. I don't get the point.

I've never done it....but Facebook could be used to get dates, especially if people live near to each other, and had known each other previously.

I see people chatting on Facebook sometimes, and when I used it one or two close friends would message me there occasionally. I don't know how common it is because again, I've accepted I know nothing about socializing at this point.

I'm actually bored enough of it to give my facebook away to friends at random & see what happens. While I'm not totally averse to using the internet, most of whom I'm interested in I know IRL, so I'd sure like to come up with a more accessible web service if I use one. No way am I denying the uncanny potential of IMs & SMS messages to make these things happen but I do know that in my shoes I have to choose my words & 'networks' wisely. Facebook was troublesome in years past but it's far from the only option out there. :chin:

Facebook scares me regarding everone's well being yet I have a Twitter for news & work events nevertheless, might as well; a friend works there. I don't feel like I need any avant garde chat apps either, only ordinary tech things to appear dateable. Really now, there's got to be something the ENTIRE WORLD does about this online that not even Boo or I are privy to.
