hopefully your dad won't kick your ass, if he's that kind of guy.

I don't know. I was kind of hoping for a new thread about why dads are mean and give their grown sons black eyes.

Do you care about your dad? Does he let you live with him rent free or do you rent together. Cause he might just throw you out and I doubt the lady will date you given you'd be homeless. She's probably with your dad cause he can provide for her amongst his other things.

Maybe he can tell him that sharing is caring.

Why would you want to move in on your dad's girlfriend?

That's like----one of the stupidest things a man could do.

How would you feel if your dad tried to flirt with YOUR girlfriend?

That's quite the hypothetical you're proposing!

It'd piss me off, though not as much as it'd piss off my mother.

Dude, dont even think of going down that road! Cant tell you what to do but give my personal opinion. Had a friend move in on a girlfriend years back and i could never look at him with trust again! It will not end well! Your father will unlikely trust you in the same manner again, especially if your actions create a break up. Any future happiness he will be trying to find for himself will be mired by your actions! Plenty of women out there. Despite how you feel dont be so selfish as to destroy someone elses happiness! Especially your fathers that has cared and looked after you emotionally and financially all his life... Worst type of ''F You'' you could do to someone especially your own father.. Cmon dude... Think with some logic here! Not cool!

Depends on what she's worth to you. I stole a gf from one of my frat brothers (he'd been kicked out of school, was mostly inactive in the frat anyway, so I didn't feel THAT bad about it). Married her, have 3 kids now.

Had a brief not-quite-but-could-have-been-sexual fling with another girl IAR. Her bf was a nice guy but the relationship was going nowhere. When she broke up with him, she came clean about the cheating. His reaction was relief, because he really wanted in the frat and was afraid with our love triangle it would cost him my support. My knee jerk reaction was to blackball him for being a jerk, though honestly I wasn't much better. I simply pretended nothing ever happened and prayed for no awkwardness. What WAS awkward is this all happened while my "little brother" was crushing on the same girl. When the truth came out, he was PISSED.

Being a college upperclassman has its perks, I guess, y'know, like having something akin to "first night" privileges over incoming freshmen. It was weird having been the resident weirdo creep for so long and suddenly having unprecedented latitude and power. Truth is I'd just gotten out of a long, painful relationship so suddenly being available took a toll on my psyche.

Similarly, being an older adult has its perks, too. Your dad can do stuff you can't right now. Don't fret, though. Being the little guy is relative. There is always someone beneath you!

^My opinion still stands, its a jerk move to make especially towards a father that seems very happy in his current relationship. You are also entitled to your opinion despite its rather seemingly ASPD overtones. Will leave it there.

Exactly, and that's really where I was going with that. I don't regret what happened with my wife. Not one bit. Because there's NO EXCUSE for abusing anyone, especially someone IAR with an abuser. I joke about "stealing" her, but reality is women aren't property, and she'd never have been with me if she didn't already want to be.

But that other girl... I'd defo do things differently if I could go back knowing what I know now. She wanted out of her then relationship, so I don't feel bad about being with her. It was just there were two other guys involved who later became good friends of mine that I felt were collateral damage. Totally unnecessary, and I feel bad about it.

However, feelings aside, it's just law of the jungle out there. Jerk thing to do or not, it does happen. Nobody is ever really in a position to go up against a parent. And I would add to that avoid getting involved with siblings, too. It's best to only handle one relationship at a time and keep them separate from other relationships. Even if your dad breaks up with her, I wouldn't date her. I wouldn't date my sibling's ex if I had one, and I probably wouldn't date an ex's sister, either. I HAVE done that before very briefly back in high school just being young and stupid, but it's not very smart. And I was in a LTR with another girl after first dating her best friend and then her cousin. For the 6 years we were together she never let me live that down!

I am seriously in love with her. She is half my dads age.

My dad is 59, I am 28 nearly and she is 31

In love with her? Sure you're not getting a bit carried away there?

Should I try and flirt with her maybe or show that I like her?

I mean, ultimately it's your choice, but I feel like that's not a very good idea.

Nothing wrong with a bit of flirting. I think it's a friendly gesture

Its not a friendly gesture if you know they're in already in a relationship with someone else.

Jamesy...don't ask questions if your only intention is to wait for the answer that fits you best.

We're all saying no. This many people with much more experience than you can't be wrong.
Move on. Don't indulge in your fantasies and deal with the reality of what's happening.

She's dating your dad. Forget she's about your age, that doesn't make you entitled.
Instead look at the qualities she might be seeing in your dad and consider how you can incorporate those qualities into your own life so you can pick up a girl like her.
