No we are mistakes. Our genes won’t be carried over to the next generation. Aspies have existed forever cause we are random mutations. Two nts will have aspie, who’ll live sad lonely life and die without having kids. Most aspies didn’t make more aspies. Natures insurance policy is over population. There’s never been a 100 death rate, or we wouldn’t be here, we loses 10-30% of the population the rest reproduce and increase population. If there was a virus that killed 4 billion There’d still be billionsnoeft and in few centuries they’d be 10billion, over population is the inrusnce plan. There’s no grand scheme to us aspies were just mistakes in dna. Random chances nothing more.

Your assumption that aspies do not reproduce is simply false. Several users of this forum counter it, having their genes already passed to the next generation.

I feel like nature’s dud most of the time. I have no exceptional talents. I have not made a mark on the world in any good way, but not for lack of trying. Just because something is different doesn’t make it useful.

Oh well, it is what it is.

I think both aspie and NT folks either offer something to evolution or they don’t. I don’t think one is more useful than the other.

We don’t as much as nts is what I meant. A lot of aspie women refuse to date aspie men. Even our own kind doesn’t like aspie men.
Also plenty of aspies have had nt kids. It’s all random. Two little people will have normal height kids, two normal hieght people have little people kids.

If I got s wife and had kids I could very well have no aspie kids, even if I got with a aspie we still might I have no aspie kids.
What’s it 1/4 men is autism? So 1/4 the male population is autism? Then there should be a lot more aspies then there is. Aspie males are the idea mate to most women be them nt or aspie.

Kept reading thst as dude and getting confused.

Many things are different it useless. Unique doesn’t mean good.

I don't think of aspies superior to NT or the other way. No.
Diversity is good. This is how evolution works. Some unique traits are only pain but others can be somehow useful. So, the useful traits are carried on but the nature is all the time exploring possibilities.
Sometimes it's even more complex - like unaffected sickle-cell disease carriers are more immune to malaria but their children may have the disease.

In my mother's family, mental illnesses are not uncommon, but also being gifted is more common than in general population. Is it connected? I don't know. I'm affected by both, trying to do best with what I've got. And my mother's family is quite children-effective, if I can say it that way. Not wealthy but educated (Eastern Europe, education and wealth are separate issues here), they get married and have three, four, six children, carrying those risky-promising genes on and on.

or what else were you trying to get at?

It reminds me, many years ago I was with a friend of mine and walking around the graveyard at the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth. My friend surveyed the inscriptions on the gravestones and pronounced: "there used to be a lot more death in those days..."

... and he was an English teacher ffs.

Sorry for the interruption, back to the thread, everyone.

In every species genetic diversity serves as a kind of "insurance policy" against extinction. A deviant subgroup could have the key to survival if conditions change, and the main genotype gets decimated.

There could be a kernel of truth to what the OP is saying.

Lemmings DO move en masse across the landscape when their population gets high in numbers. Many do fall off cliffs, or drown in Fjords. And some of them probably also smoke cigarettes, and eat Tide pods too (just because its the cool thing to do).

Other organisms do similar things when either their numbers get high, or there is a drought ( when they get too many, or when conditions get bad). Millipedes in Tennesee do it. Surge out of the forest suddenly like flood water, and cover the highways, causing motorists to run over them and gush up their tires.

Not at once though. Like Black Death didn’t kill every single last human. We wouldn’t be here. No virus or illness or war has killed 100% of the population off. We always have way more population then such things can kill off that’s naturals insurance policy.

It made no sense and I chalked it up to the imperfections of natural variation. However, then I read this...

Why teens are eating Tide Pods

And an idea arose.

Nature needs people like us because sometimes conformity can cause mass die offs, when social animals follow the leader to their demise.

We represent the lemurs who didn't jump off the cliff, the whales who didn't beach, and the people who didn't intentionally eat poison.

We are nature's insurance policy.

Why Does Down Syndrome exist while we are supposed to be a very intelligent species? Why does Tourette Syndrome exist? Why does blindness exist while we are supposed to be visual creatures?

This argument makes little sense honestly, Autism is an anomaly, and not in a good way, like the above conditions and Autism in specific may not even be totally genetic (the environmental theory is still very plausible).

and It still exists a lot because most female aspies keep passing on the genes very effectively - this is just a fact and it's very apparent in L&D.

Those conditions exist because of refined society and medical advancement. Genes are actually getting worse, because weaker gene pools are able to breed for these two reasons.

Many people with (especially) high-functioning autism get married and have children.

People should read the posts of people here, definitely autistic, who have husbands, wives, and kids. It's not a "rare phenomenon."

I believe autism is partially "passed down" from parents or more distant ancestors. There are autistic people, however, who acquired autism in a random, idiopathic fashion.

Autism has many causes; it is quite possible, when all is said and done, that there will be "autisms," rather than mere "autism."

When teens were sucking cinnamon down into their lungs nobody cared. Well, most people didn't. I was worried they were going to ban it from stores and that would suck because I looove the taste of cinnamon and wouldn't be able to add it to my baking. But I never loved it enough to swallow a spoonful of it without water and choke to death.

But now they're eating Tide Pods and people won't shut up about it. Maybe because Tide is a well-known brand name of laundry detergent while cinnamon is just cinnamon, and it's a spice so it's not like it's inedible at all? Or because we're almost as dumb as the people who are actually eating them?

And it's not like stupid people are only dangerous to themselves. The only living thing in the world more dangerous than a human being is a stupid human being. And that, sadly, is a lot easier to remember than how to correctly spell cinnamon, which I still have a problem doing.

cinn-a-mon, cinn-a-mon, cinn-a-mon...

In 1968, there was a song called "Cinnamon, let me in." I wish I could post it here.

It was one of my favorite songs when I was 7 years old.

Have you ever tried cardamom? In Arab countries we use it in coffee and in some food recipes such as the famous shawarma.

Norwegians use a lot of cardamom too.

We call "schawarmas" "gyros" in New York.

Have you ever heard of felafel?
