The funny thing about falling for someone is that some of the things you might otherwise find annoying suddenly just don't seem very important. If you were meant to be with a woman who had a grating voice, the reality is that somehow you wouldn't notice it was grating. Or you would think it was cute. And so on. Except when angry at her, maybe ;)

There is no "never" in the world of pheromones.

If you find someone's voice grating, they simply must not be your person.

I feel like this forgets about actual sensitivities due to autism. E.g. it doesn't matter how much I love someone, if they make a screeching sound with their cutlery on a plate, I'm going to have a physical and emotional reaction - it's unbearable. And it never goes away. Even if I do it myself, it's horrible. If someone's voice had that effect, I imagine it would be the same. I couldn't just get used to it. So it would be tragic, if they were otherwise well suited to me.

I did think about the sensitivities, but voice is something you become aware of so quickly that I can't imagine you feeling attraction at all to someone with an unsuitable voice. Knives on a plate can be worked on; voice not so much. There are also, of course, degrees involved. A voice that is only slightly grating might be ignored under the weight of attraction, but one that is severely won't be.

I guess I'm also hoping that life wouldn't be so cruel as to give someone otherwise suited to you a literally painful voice.

Guys with squeaky voices aren’t attractive to me, unfortunately.

It might have something to do with your upbringing. My Dad is huge with a deep voice, so I guess it sort of sets the standards of what you’re used to in regards to the opposite gender.
