Eh. You may be surprised that there are women who actually act like human beings and are very interested in getting to know men. Some of us not only make the first moves but we also actually - GASP - pay our own way and theirs too if needed.

Are you implying women who expect the men they date to pay for what they're getting act like not human beings?, because, you know, you'd be insulting the vast majority of women who've ever walked the Earth.

What exactly is the surprise?

Nice straw man. Not selling yourself short has nothing to do with not making your own money; in fact, its more like the opposite.

Meh. More like women not acting like they have a hive mind. It seems like there are many of the guys here on WP seem to think that all women act and think the same. Seems like they've gotten their socialization skills from watching movies and TV shows.

If you like women being in the subservient role, cool. If you like women who are more dominant, cool. There's something for everyone.

I don't think women, or men should expect the other person to pay all the time, either.

Western society says men ask out women give signs they want asked out, so by that logic the guy pays every time.why?

Thinking that we are all unique is the most common hive mind thought.

i wonder what drives people to see the opposite gender as mysterious, magical cryptic beings with unknown motivations that need to be so difficult to understand?

i'd like to think that we all just want the same things.

But why?

When a friend initiates an outing, that does not mean he/she will pay.

That’s just an execuse a lot od women repeat to make men pay.

And btw, do you really believe that most women would pay even if they do the asking out?
I don’t think they will.

So you insist on insulting them. Real nice.

I guess you can read our minds

That sounds a lot like you think we all act and think the same. Anyway, nice straw man. Statistical facts, like market phenomena, have nothing to do with denying individual differences. I get you don't like what I'm saying, so you practise the standard response of muddying the issue and trying to make me look bad. You might as well say I'm forgetting the sky is blue—it's just as irrelevant.

The only one here who ever said anything about dominant and subservient rôles is you. Again, nice straw man.

Not knowing them.

It's pretty obvious there are major differences between what the vast majority of men and the vast majority of women want.

"But I am unique" ...then he/she repeats things that over 90% of his/her sex want.

I've read women saying that precisely the fact that the one doing the asking out—i.e., the man—pays the whole expense is what marks the event as a date.

But I think it's best summed up as the escort did: "I'm already bringing something of economic value to the table". And she was talking about real dates, not going out with clients.

Such as the ones mentioned above. I'm not going to repeat the whole thread.

I only expect the other person to pay if they hassle me into going somewhere with them.

It doesn’t happen now I am older, I just tell them no.

If I want to be there, I will pay my share or both depending on the situation.

For example if my friend pays for me one time, I will pay the next. A bit of give and take. The same applies on dates, back when I went on them.
