Agree. There are many reasons for decorating certain ways. They don't have to necessarily be for sex. Also, there's no such thing as a male or female living space. There are living spaces occupied by males and females. Our generation has this annoying obsession with forcing people into gender stereotypes, then complaining when they act like stereotypes. I've never thought, "I'm a man, so I'll do this," before doing anything in my life.

There actually is a femalelivingspaces subreddit. But many of the posts are requests for decorating help rather than post decorating photos.

There’s one thing not conducive to forming any kind of relationship with a woman that trumps all others: having no place to decorate.

Another old fashioned one here, though I'm cis-het female. Came of age in the '70s, also a wood lover. Bookcases and furniture and cabinets are wood, mostly golden oak and knotty pine, some rattan. Trim and moldings in my home also wood. Soft furnishings (curtains, cushions, bedclothes, carpets) are rust, burgundy, brown, depending on the room - some solid, some pinstriped. (Walls are a cold beige, previous owner had that, I want to redo in warm ivory after I change some other things).

I like it because it looks and feels very cozy, very warm. Not frilly, and not "macho", just cozy and warm. It's a book-lover's place, with a side of music and cooking - kind of rustic. I find a lot of contemporary decor to be very cold, very stark, and this is totally independent of the residents' genders - I can't feel at home if I don't feel snug.

This is fine, too. The house that I spent most of my life in has the livingroom kind of like that. Not '70s wood paneling, but real wood (probably from the '50s). It used to be a dark stain, but now it's much lighter.

I feel the same way. One of my uncles, his house is super industrial, it looks more like an office building than somewhere people live. I also really dislike leather furniture, but that's mostly because it's very uncomfortable to sit on.

^ Agreed, and if you have either cats or dogs, leather furniture will last about ten seconds before the first claw scratch or puncture. I'd rather have my cats :-)

(Edit in: I also love the warmth of natural sunlight in a wood-enriched interior, sorry that sounds frou frou but it's the only way I could think of to say it. The whole inside of the house just glows.)

My room uses natural colors, and I prefer things that way. Of course, the walls aren't my choice of color, not until I own a home; but, my furniture and decorations are that of natural colors of wood. I suppose my room is further darkened by pieces of medieval decorative kit and reenactment kit, as well as some vintage decorations and books on a shelf (which even despite a few brightly colored books, the overall view is somewhat dark).

I also find the dark relaxing, but not pitch black. Really do like the night for it being dark and no light getting through my windows. Not a fan of natural light or ceiling lights.

My sister's room, on the other hand, is brightly colored with some natural colors in there as well.

Your home has a lot of drugs and human trafficking, I hope you do something about that (I'm not supporting or going against the wall, just pointing out what's going through your home).
