Bumped into her sister the other day, it turned out she (the ex) is miserable with that new guy, treating her like a pet and not allowing her to have any social life outside him.

The only reason I can imagine is that she broke with her new friend. She'll sexually approach you for getting you back. You have to know wether you want her again may be just for sex. For a short time it could work and a woman on your side makes it easier to find a new relations because NT women are that way that they care a lot of how other women and especially your GF are towards you. But don't give your heart into her again and keep always in mind that sh'll never be honest to you even if she totally seems to like you or starts to make future plans with you!

Some bad advice in this thread. Some good advice.

There is little point in wasting emotional energy on this. It won't make you feel better. Even revenge serves little purpose now. You are not in control when you are having second thoughts. If if had simply been a mutual disagreement that is one thing. However that is not the case. Walk away, don't engage the sister.

This kind of drama is not a foundation of a healthy relationship. It is spiral you don't have to go down even if you have no intention of a serious relationship. There is no real social advantage either.

Also don't think you can be f**k buddies after this and there be no emotional component. This is bad relationship, without even getting into fault.

Many women aren't really better then her and emotional quite calculating. But not even few are into the guys who don't even care much about the emotions of their girlfriends. Met my new neighbour and his wife in a disco with a couple of their friends. He didn't care about his wife and had a lot fun and approached every woman who was around just in front of her. The women around were all totally into him. His wife did not only accept this but seemed to be glad for being the one who his wife. Met one of the women who were around in another club. She came to me directly and greeted me with "Oh, hello! I know you! You are the friend of M...! How is he?"
Some women are really romantic ...

Don't try to be friends with your ex. If she cheated on you and is unhappy with her current life, it's her loss and not yours. If you've been in relationships before, you can be in a different relationship again with someone else.

/\Agreed. It is almost like in every thread there has to be someone inserting mostly irrelevant social theory or some other irrelevant discussion. This case is rather quite simple. It is not worth wasting time and energy with this drama.

Boo. It is really more a case of dealing with the sister. Best not engage at all, but if you have to talk again just say you have moved on and won't be discussing it again. But if she is the sort of person who won't accept it you might have to blank her. You have to be consistent. Sometimes you can't be polite.

Also you might benefit from a bit of break as it is.

I may be weak after all, to be frank, she got me worried for her well-being.

She called me again and talked to me for 2 hours on voice past midnight, she was crying , she claims that she didn't find any peace since her cheating, and she literally said "I am so sorry, I know I hurt you so much" , and complained how her current is 'over-protecting' her, as if he's 'holding her from neck', not allowing her to have much of a social life, even checking her phone and fb, she even lost two consecutive jobs due to lack of focus (at least according to her). She was communicating to me from an anonymous account she just created.

It seems the little revenge I did against her like 3 months ago (contacting her bf and exposing her attempt of cheating on him) had their relationship to take an ugly curve.

She claims all she wants is my forgiveness, so I did (but no friendship and no going back to her), after all it seems we equally harmed each other somehow. I think this is my real closure.

She could always dump the guy if he really is as restricting as she makes him out to be. I think she's trying to guilt trip you.

You're falling for the oldest trick in the book *shrug*

Maybe you feel guilty about your own actions and she's using that. You must be aware that she would cheat with you on her boyfriend without hesitation, so if you leave emotions out of the equation, what objective/rational reason do you have to think she's actually sorry for anybody else than herself?

She played you before, she thinks she can play you again, it's how it works with people who do that. She already had her first victory: you talked to her, you "forgave" her and you feel sorry for her.

Congratulations, you've been used. Again.

My ex tried similar tricks on me after her husband found out about her seeing other men behind his back.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I never meant to hurt you! Please forgive me! I'll make it up to you! ..." blah ... blah ... blah ...

I just laughed at her and mimicked her mom's voice to tell her that it was her own damned fault.

An ex did something similar to me too years after it ended. I told her I forgave her (in the sense that I don't hate her and don't hold a grudge anymore), but I never contacted her again, and didn't try to be her friend.

That’s my case too, it was only for my peace of mind. To be fair, she wasn’t asking to come back to me like fnord’s ex.
