#1 and #5 could easily pass for "good posture" and "clean hair." I didn't think that these would count as surprising.

As for the others, none of them do much for me, except for #4. An active, logical mind is a big turn on as far as I'm concerned, and being able to pound out an extremely challenging, several thousand line C program in a week, with my wife as co-author, is a very unique and good feeling. Respecting someone's mind means so much more than a baseball cap.

1. No, although taller girls seem to come on to me more often what I find sexy is that they're coming on to me, not that they're tall

2. Not really

3. No way

4. Not really

5. Maybe

6. Probably not

7. No

8. Maybe

People believe anything that they
can ascribe to any kind of expert,
in the hopes that they will understand.

1. Standing Tall: Tall/short doesn't really matter to me, As long as she is not fatter than me (and it's hard to be fatter than me), I'm fine with physical build...

2. True Grit: Not necessarily. I need the woman that needs me (i.e. the one that always wants me to hold her) because it makes me feel useful in the relationsihp...

3. Baseball Caps: I go either way on this; no major + or - points on that...

4. Software Savvy: Definitely a plus, because then I don't have to be the sole tech support for the eventual family...

5. Sexy Shampoo: The scent of most shampoos smells repulsive to me. However, hair that was recently made wet and then air-dried without being combed looks strangely attractive, so meh...

6. Understated Underwear: The fact that I would be able to see any woman in underwear would be a major event in my life...

7. Dirt and Sweat: This is definitly helpful, since my fear of bees means that I'm probably not going to be mowing the lawn anytime soon...

8. A Few "Duh" Moments: This is good, for the same reason as I gave in #2...

When I first read the title,
I thought it was 8" surprisingly
attractive to men.

You're taking the "tall" thing literally. He means good posture and self-confidence. My partner recently made me stand up straight (as I have appalling posture) and he said I looked sexier. Might've been the black dress I was wearing though :P

I knew about the boxer shorts and old tshirt thing, the diztiness thing, and the shampoo thing. Not the baseball cap. That might be a culture thing though. I've heard of similar but based on band tshirts. I've heard of the dirt/sweat thing, but not on such a high level. Dangly bits of hair on your face while you're hard at work on something gets the desired effect in my experience. The "girl-geek" thing is kind of an obvious one though. But I guess that's because I hang around with "techies". The crying-girl thing I dunno, I don't think it's quite that severe. some men like to see women upset (not in a bad way). It allows them to comfort. But I do agree that it shouldn't happen all the time.

Short dresses always look better when
women stand tall.

Really? Seriously? I've never heard that *anywhere*, I wear them to hide bad hair. I take one to the gym with me to put on and hide my "workout hair" after. And it was funny, because I was incredibly confused when I was walking home from the gym in a baseball cap with a ponytail, and workout clothes, carrying a water bottle and a guy started flirting with me. Do some guys really find this look attractive?

Honestly, 3 is the strangest one to me -- but somehow, it works on me anyway. I don't know why. I don't even like baseball! Or the concept of "teams" that the author wrote about.

3 mystifies me just as much as my friend's girlfriend telling me that women generally think that a guy wearing a sportcoat and jeans looks hot. I kept asking her, "Really? Why?" It just sounds too simple, but apparently, some WP members I asked agree with that.

So, guys: Apparently, if you want to get a girl, buy a sportcoat and jeans, and you'll be set. :? People are so weird in their attractions -- myself included.

7's pretty much BS to me, though apparently some guys like it, because you see all those posters with scantily-clad women with mud or sand all over them. Only one word pops into my head when I see that: "shower" -- as in, her alone, without me. I'm not into grime.

Girls have something to make their hair look like this all day long. I know because a girl who used to work with me had her hair looking freshly-showered-and-not-dried all day long, every day. It must be some kind of oil. It made her hair look perpetually soaking wet, but looking closely, you could tell it wasn't actually.

I used to feel macho while mowing the lawn while my wife was in the house making dinner for us. I liked the fact that my doing yard work was a turn-on for her.

There is something about a woman standing or sitting bolt-upright, that somehow makes them irresistible. "Wow, why is she bolt upright??" my brain keeps wanting to know. It's like she's got all this excess energy or something.

Hmmm...

1) Standing Tall: I do admit that I like this, but I don't mind a sloucher.

2) True Grit: Yeah, I like this. Everyone's gotta be able to get through bad s**t. Plus, if someone can't, and they're suicidal, it's not attractive--who wants to date someone who might kill themselves?

3) Baseball caps: HELL no, I hate baseball. And I think the caps themselves look ugly on people.

4) Software Savvy: Sure, but better to be hardware-savvy. I'm ok with software but suck at hardware.

5) Sexy Shampoo: To me, sexy shampoo means shampoo that doesn't smell. Period. Not that "scentless" stuff that DOES smell, and not that gross-smelling perfumy s**t, but shampoo that doesn't actually smell.

6) Understated Underwear: Hell no. I think decadent lingrie is way sexier any day. I like poshness, elegence, not that "ordinary average girl next door" type...

7) Dirt and Sweat: EW EW EW NO! CLEAN! BE CLEEEEAN. Dirt and mud and sweat are nasty.

8 ) A Few "Duh" Moments: I don't mind them as long as they're not too frequent. I don't like know it all types, but someone who is frequently ditzy is not someone I find attractive.
