Divorce?
That's how it's been in my family. My older sister, an NT, got much better treatment from my parents than I did. My parents seemed to love her unconditionally; the only time I got even a hint of a reward is when I brought home a good grade. When I tried to ask for the same treatment that my sister got, they told me: "she a good child, like all kids should be, but you... <disgusted look on the face, followed by a grunt>". Over time, I stopped questioning the "natural order of things", and internalized the fact that families do not love their children equally. I still believe to this day. Now I spend so little time at home (due to working and going out with friends), that I don't really care anymore. But I still strongly resent my sister for getting what's essentially a free ride in the family. So now I find myself mentally incapable of loving. I'm just hoping that I won't do this to my kids.
Here's a very imporant message to NT parents out there. If you treat your kids differently, they will know. No matter how much you tell them that you love them equally, the favorite will stand there and smirk, and the reject will hate you for trying to get him to buy into this bullsh*t.
