Handling rejection
I'm no expert at all...but I can offer my point of view as a girl.
Many girls (me included) like it when guys demonstrate confidence and a sense of humor in the ways they handle life in general. Rejection is part of life. EVERYONE, boy/girl, AS/NT experiences it many times. The girl you're talking about has experienced it too, probably...or will.
If a girl says 'no," imo it could mean several things:
-you've taken her by surprise...maybe she's never thought of you that way. From here, she could either START thinking about you...or decide you two wouldn't be a good match. So since it's 50/50 in thsi case...you might stick around and observe how she acts around you in the next couple weeks...make her laugh...be nice but NOT PUSHY! She might come around and send you signals she's interested afterall
-of course a "no" could also mean she thinks you two aren't going to work out. She's free and entitled to her opinion. Who knows what goes on in her mind...maybe she's not over an ex-boyfriend (you'd be AMAZED how many times that happens), maybe she's going through stuff you don't know about...maybe she likes someone else...And DON'T FORGET basic chemistry!! !! It's the "thing" that happens when two people are a good match. It's not CONTROLLED by her, by you...it's instinctive and primitive. I've even read that the way we perceive other people's body odor is sometimes a sign that we LIKE or DON'T LIKE that person:) Talk about instinct!
Have a sense of humor even about rejection! Be "cool" about it and move on if she doesn't come around! She wasn't "the one."
Oh yeah, and don't get too hyped about someone before you actually meet them. They may turn out to be nothing like you expected, in a romantic setting. I think it's best to keep expectations low during the first months of a new relationship...and low before a relationship even starts. This way you don't invest too much and so you don't lose much.

my 2 cents...
