^Well doesnt he qualify for welfare? Or foodstamps?? For christs sake the guy is STARVING! If he's too proud to accept assistance from others than I say cut him lose and end the relationship. This guy cant support himself and if he's determined to be obstinant than you might as well just be platonic with him.

as you said maybe it is just the wrong time... if he can't even look after himself he really shouldn't even be in a relationship... sounds like he really needs to get himself together first

He's not an American citizen at this point (though he can legally work here) so he doesn't qualify for anything, nor would he want to go that route.

I don't think it's a simple issue of pride; I think it's more of a compulsion. Like I said, he's aspie-like in many ways. He has strict rules and routines for himself that he finds really hard to break away from, and when he tries, he gets stressed and depressed.

Anyway, we have so much in common, if I were to "cut him loose" or give him some time to get out of this rut, I would still be his friend at the very least, even if we didn't see each other often for a while. I can't completely walk away from someone I relate to so well. It's hard to explain.
