Put the boiled chickpeas together with the tahini (sesame paste) into a pot
Squeeze the lemon, add the juice, the garlic clove and the olive oil to the mixture
add about half a spoon of cumin and salt to taste
Use a hand blender to bring it all together. Blend until very smooth.
Add a bit of water if the consistency is too thick.
Sprinkle a bit of paprika powder on top
Serve cold.

PS: Sometimes I add red pepper powder on step 4 and the hummus will become orange-colored ....and spicy , yumm.

:P

Here's my recipe:

(1) Go to market;
(2) Buy hummus.
(3) Repeat.

;)

My granny used to make homemade hummus before she passed away! You're right, that supermarket stuff is s**t compared to homemade hummus.

lol nah she just used to cook a lot of stuff. My family has always cooked a whole range of multicultural food. Other stuff my granny used to make which was just amazing was yogurt, all different types of jam, bread, and marmalade. She used to grow a lot of herbs in her backyard and made an amazing bolonaise (sorry spell check won't pick it up and I can't spell to save my life for some reason) sauce with it (to this day I have never tasted one better).

Yeah she used to make genuine hummus, tasted fantastic, but I never actually learned how to make it from her, my dad might know though.
