I've never found the logic of paying a private trainer; their prices aren't justified in any sense, in my local gym there are only two types of clients who pay that: 1- Cougar women who want to f**k the sexy trainer and are so desperate for any excuse to be touched by him and touch him; it's no coincidence that I always find him dating his private client after while. And oh, he's married btw but his wife apparently doesn't care.
2- Gay guys who want to f**k the trainer, but hélas, he's no gay.

Gym isn't rocket science! You won't injure yourself if you have some common sense, many gym junkies would also love to show off (in front of girls apparently) and lend help/correct you; they're useful at that. You can also observe others, observe the fit members how are they doing stuff and you'll learn fast on your own.

How much your local gym costs monthly?

I advise you to go to an affordable gym or to do some of those outdoor workouts; it gives you a good routine to get out of the house and meet new people; it's healthy on both accounts, unless you already have friends and you don't care to expand socially.

$25-100. keep in mind the cheap ones are in the next city, so the gas cost overrides the saving.

the major problem is at 30 a month on contract. is like $360 a year. I don't make that much. I get from 80-150 every 3 months, half that goes to gas. leaving like 40 dollars. and I have to start saving for christmas gifts. so I can't pay for a gym regularlly and then i'd be stuck in a contract. plus its 150 to join then 30 a month for the first year and after that it goes up. it'd be another 30 a month to get to that gym and its the closest aside from the tiny tiny gym at the fitness center that cost 25 a month. that pays for a whole lot of stuff I won't use(rock climbing, soccer, basket ball, tennis courts.)

without some kind of gov grants I highly doubt i'll ever be able to go to a gym. which is a shame the gov should be trying to reverse the obesity in our nation not let it grow rampant even if they offered it, it wouldn't cost too much as most wouldn't use it but those that would could get somewhat fit.

some insurance plans cover it, I can only imagine how much the gov pays for my two insurance plans that I hardly use. the company must make millions off medicaid and medicare.

aso for outside. all our parks are designed for kids to play at not for adults. I live in the more rich area of my city. its poor intermixed with super nice houses. so they wanted parks for their kids to play at while they work. though non of the parks in town or the next city are adult geared or fitness. I don't think our cities care too much about fitness. the next one is a big hippy city, they care more about the environment and taxing businesses. mine started as a logging town we are just poor compared to the the city next to us. their town hall is big and has a separate giant libary. ours is tiny and a combined libary, fire department hq and until a 10 years ago police station.

the only place I've seen a fitness park is at the local community college, they had a fitness course with a track and then stops with square areas where you did different stuff. they didn't maintain it though and chunks of it became parking lots. the rest are simi rotting wood . a friend and me tried to use it once. don't remember ever seeing anyone else.

they also have hiking/jogging trails in the woods around it but the last 2 years I was they they cut it off to the general public/students. they did expand their indoor fitness center though with fancy equipment.

sly, haven't we already gone through this several times? It always ends up the same way. We try to encourage you to exercise and you keep making excuses. A while ago I suggested you to do yoga and posted a video of some guy who was in much worse shape than you, lost so much weight just doing yoga. I don't think you responded to that.
Why don't you just do some stretching and squats and other light exercises you can do in your living room? Of course you're not going to change drastically in a short period but if you keep doing it you'll see some results in a year or so.

Or you just don't have a strong desire to be in shape if you're being completely honest? If you'd rather stay as you are than make an effort, you should just accept it and stop making excuses to yourself and others.

I think I'm done encouraging you on this matter. Good luck.

I have restarted doing stuff I can inside. you may see them as excuses. but they are limitations. I have a 2x4 foot space in which to do stuff in. just enough room for squats, when i move to regular pushups I may have to try to squeeze in between my bed and chedar chest or try doing them off my bed.

you suggested Tabata workout, which from the look requires fast movements. i just don't have the pace for that. If i lived alone and had a living room to do stuff in then my options would be wider. but I live in a cramp small bedroom. my family basically spends all their time in the living room which they've filled with tables, couches chairs, and tubs of sewing stuff.

I am honestly trying to do the best I can with what I got. I thought that I was making effort with doing squats, pushups, and crunches and will try to add lunges if I can do it in that space also the thing which is like a crunch but you bring your butt up instead. :(

as for change last time I did stuff I lost 40 pounds in 3 months.

I am going to slim down so that I will look even more like Jessica Alba. How long will it take me too lose 12 kilograms if I burn 500 calories more than I take in every day?

sly, put the chest on the bed while you're working out. Or use the chest as workout gear. You can do chair dips on it (look it up)....

wait a minute, you're making min wage while living at home. If you're paying any rent, tell them you need to spend money on a gym membership and get into better health, and are going to do this now, and this may reduce your contribution by $25/mo. This is, like, two pizzas. They'll deal.

Yeah, the sort of thing you're showing was a staple of the parcourse movement, which was big in the US in the 70s and early 80s. We had one near my house when I was growing up and it was great. It requires some public money, though -- those things cost money to install and don't actually maintain themselves, plus you need to make sure the parks stay safe enough that people feel comfortable going there to exercise. There's a lot of fear on the part of civil servants of doing something that turns out to be a visible bust, so if you spend money and install a parcourse and people don't use it, you get blamed for wasting public money. And in communities where things like roads and schools are crumbling, people get mad that you're spending money on "frivolities" like fitness instead of fixing something urgent. These things work best in communities that already have a commitment to fitness.

I just did 1500 repetitions today and 700 of those reps were push ups, you're telling me someone can't do a push up workout? there's wide grip, close grip, diamond, military, bomber, dragon, loads of variations, in fact...

You can do a workout in front of your computer right now!

(rubs forehead) Alexander, go look in the mirror. See that? That's you. You can do this. You also have time to do this. Notice that when you talk to other people, they don't look like the guy you saw in the mirror. That's because they're not you. And not everyone can do this.

Bullying people into fitness through obliviousness to differences among people's abilities, circumstance, and motivation -- it doesn't work. And it isn't nice.

Everyone is different, indeed and everyone has a different personal journey to walk but sometimes we exaggerate what we can't do or what we aren't capable of and that negative self-talk creates a wall, a barrier that stops us from challenging ourselves and achieving what we really want or what would make us feel more confident in our lives. It's about being able to say to yourself that you really want to do this instead letting the negative self talk build up inside and that's something that takes courage but you have to find it.

You would enjoy Prague and Istanbul. You could get really lost in Istanbul, though. The architecture is nice in both places.

Amman, Jordan, has its delights, too.

Apparently, in Prague, classical music concerts are not that expensive; people from all socioeconomic levels, apparently, still go to classical concerts with relative frequency.
