The same could be said about you, even though I was the first to come up with that defense, interesting turn around. Cannot beat me and seek to join me?

Oh noez, she's in the corner now. No opinions of her own to reflect, simply biding time.

Not quite true. I enjoy kicking your ass, yes. But I'm also hopeful that next time you feel like attacking another poster by twisting her words and making false accusations, you'll consider that there might be repercussions.
And my victory is clear, fool. Cross your arms, pout, and declare victory all you want...you've resorted to childish means far beyond my own. "Kicked my ass," you have, no? Haha, read any of my former posts...find your assumptions horribly wrong.

Let that Crown of Thorns burn with your assumptions. Your infallible word has been overcome. Your hate has overcome you, you are nothing more than it. In the end though, I only feel sorry for you. I had wanted you as a friend, shame you were too proud.

Yes, troll. You're gibbering like a fool, grasping at straws, and shooting out clouds of ink like a squid.

No, I'm just insufficiently lacking in taste.

Pardon me? How'd you like to go back to the beginning of this thread and explain exactly why my grounds are poor? If you can't or won't, don't bother making the assertion.

What I find a little disturbing about this discussion is the assumption that there's a "perfect" body type that all women should aspire to have, and all men find attractive; and that the only thing we need to settle is which type that is.

Would it be outrageous of me to suggest that fit, healthy women naturally have a range of body types, and that men differ in their preferences?

So far the discussion was a very valid, peaceable, and when a question like the original post is out there - its not usually assumed "BTW, don't tell the real truth, certain people will be offended". People said what they really meant, what they felt, what they knew to be true. Even with differences of opinion on topics people kept their class, agreed to disagree on certain points, and let it drop.

Where it started was with what I just quoted. I understand that you are hellbent on seeing reality a certain way, that's ok as long as you keep it to yourself as you can't expect to shut a thread down because you don't agree with other people's opinions (ie. one example being the realities of natural law - whether all the rest of us really like them all that much ourselves or not, we're talking about our observations on society, ourselves, etc.).

Anyway, BlueSummers shot his thoughts back - nothing confrontational at all, just citing an opinion.

Your first response to that was fine. This was the part that I think aggravated people and aggravated him to say more on the topic:

Quote:
It's also irritating that nobody seems to have a problem with the idea that MEN come in a range of sizes which WOMEN can find attractive. Confused

He had a reply to that, made a comment about feminist rage out of irritation, and that's about when the checkered flag went up.

I don't want to get into the basis of the argument, just that I understand from reading your posts that you have a fundamental disagreement with people when it comes to natural law, what really happens inside a person's emotions vs. what they want to have happen, and a lot of it gets personalized. I'm not trying to beat you down on this, just that you're not showing yourself to be much of a self-monitor when it comes to analyzing your own reactions.

I know you won't apologize, no ones asking you do that, but at least see it yourself - for yourself; you don't have to compromise face or ego to respond to this even but at least learn and admit something to yourself....

And still, nothing of value to contribute. Completely in the corner now, nothing but insults to give. Fool, even if you were right, you're wrong now. I hope that disgusting hatred of yours is enough to live off of. You have nothing else, no matter how you may deceive yourself into thinking otherwise.

You've played into my hands at every turn. I first saw a beautiful mind plagued by darkness, I sought to reach out to it, but you've done nothing else but to fulfill that prophecy.

This, is the end. I am wrong. I was wrong. I'll always be wrong.

Whatever makes you happy. I'm so disappointed though...you haven't changed a bit.

OH DEAR GOD THANK YOU!

I was, and tried to explain myself. I even said how often I am misunderstood, tried to explain how "hey, I'm not your enemy, can't we get along?"

But saying that isn't fair to her. She had her reasons, and opinions, and I respect that. I don't want to railroad her into thinking she's absolutely wrong, or there'd be no point to anything I've said. I just wanted her to take a step back, and think for a moment..."What the hell is right in this world?"

Young men in this forum tend to come across as very bolshy. They often say things that actually make sense (wow!), but are hard to stomach as they are wrapped in layers of defensiveness and misdirected argumentative insults. As well as the odd blatant, biased untruth, mixed in with the good stuff.

It's very hard to tell who's side they are on. I doubt even they really know...

I blame hormones.

First of all, please cite, or link to, the post where I said the thread ought to be shut down.

Second, please explain why you defend the rights of others to express their opinions, but then you say I ought to keep mine to myself.

Now, let's look at the exchange.

First, BS responded to Aridarr by saying, "someones feeling feminist rage again".

Then, he responded to my expressing irritation by saying, "*Sensing feminist rage* "

Clearly, BS "senses feminist rage" around him pretty regularly.

However, at that point I tried to turn it into a joke by saying, "Oh, absolutely. If we weren't all so maddened by rage, we'd be sensibly spending our days having the exact same argument." and posting a story from the Onion.

Then ToadofSteel complained about women only being motivated by money (to which BS chimed in: "ZING!"). I reasonably surmised TOS was having woman trouble and looking for something to blame it on.

BS' response was: "Men are a**holes. I'm thinking that's what you're meaning to say?"

THAT'S where the checkered flag went up.

techstepgenr8tion wrote:

Your understanding is incorrect. I have a fundamental disagreement with people twisting my words and making false accusations, in ways such as I've described above.

For what, precisely, would I apologize? For refusing to let someone get away with taunting me and twisting my words, because I dared to express my opinion like everyone else?

Oh, don't worry, I don't feel it's MY face or ego that's being compromised here.

Hehehe, we live 6 years shorter than average - scientists blame it on how culture takes the pipes and blowtorches to us psychologically (it happens to women as well just that I'd think we can tack on another 6 ot 7 years at least lost by both genders do to physical insult from us abusing ourselves to 'make the grade' in society).

I do notice a lot of times though your absolutely right, a lot of the guys don't present themselves as peaceably right off the top (though in this thread I can't count blue in that number). The other half of the scrap though, sometimes guys really are mysogenists, much more often though its guys with soft interiors trying to abuse and scar themselves into being something virile enough to be lovable by somebody (sad but we all know, mother nature doesn't give a flying ---- about fairness; which is why arguments like the one we're seeing here just seem like a case of the crowd lynching the messenger - not the most forward-thinking way of handling things).

I understand, you know. I'm not some oblivious fool, despite my age and gender. I'm giving much more compromise than I'm letting on.

Don't take things at face value. I like Aridarr, and so I like to tease her feminist whims. I beckon her to make me a 'sammich out of love. I don't consider myself that typical sexist a**hole, so I get offended when I'm portrayed as such.

I'm teasing you as well, sorry if it lead to hostile arguments, I just hate when women frown...I realized I couldn't put a smile on your face, so I resorted to your angry scold. I liked hearing your opinions about what I've said, and of those about me. I really took no offense.

I gave my own opinions, no matter how harsh they seemed to be, out of hope you'd realize something out of them. I ultimately digress, you are the winner here, I've failed :(

You filibustered the thread with the argument (overall against the threads existence or in substance against peoples right to say what they see or feel if its something that would upset you personally).

juliekitty wrote:

Arridar and Blue did have a short back and forth but they didn't keep going and going and going. Other than that, the thread was running smooth and the blip was a page or so off the radar already.

I can see both sides on that one and I'm thinking guys and gals here, likewise, are doing well at throwing opinions out there without adapting them well to a pure text environment (and yes, I've had a round of that or two myself - trying not to make mistakes over).

However, at that point I tried to turn it into a joke by saying, "Oh, absolutely. If we weren't all so maddened by rage, we'd be sensibly spending our days having the exact same argument." and posting a story from the Onion.

From how this argument started I'd be heartless to take it there....think on that for a minute and I think you'll know what I'm saying..

You and blue both: Graelwyn's thread's shot.

That and, believe it or not, you did initiate the combat here and pushed it past threshold into an argument - pretty much on your own. You guys should have taken it to PM immediately. Then again, I think (unless the PM was something perverse) someone tried that didn't they....
