I'm 25 and a virgin.
I have had a few chances when I was in my late teens and I was an idiot for not taking them. After that I have had few chances with girls in the last few years...

Lately, past year or so, I have gained some confidence and seem to be attracting girls. But now, I have a problem.
I have no experience. I don't have any idea what to do if I had the chance. I guess this would be acceptable if I were 17 but not at 25.

I don't want to meet nice girls who would be turned off by sexual incompetence. So I have been thinking lately, should I hire myself a prostitute?
Just to gain some experience, to know what I am doing... To not be a massive disappointment.
I am not completely certain but this is holding me back from meeting girls and trying to have a relationship.

Some advice please?

I'm a twenty year old virgin so any views I am about to bring into play are purely hypothetical and/or philosophical. I also skipped all the posts and replies after reading your original post so.. Yes, with those two grains of salt.

Don't use your virginity as a weakness. Use it as a strength. I honestly think more women would be more turned off if all you're worried about is losing your virginity. If they judge you as less of a person because you aren't sexually experienced enough for them, then that's a pretty fair clue that you shouldn't be involved with them in the first place in my opinion.

You never having sex does not hold you back from meeting girls. It does not hold you back from entering in a relationship.

YOU are holding YOU back from a relationship by emphasizing loss of virginity and sexual experience as a must-have before getting into a relationship.

And hiring a prostitute to gain sexual experience? That's just a STD snafu waiting to happen.

That said, do what you think is best. But think about what you do before you do it.

How old are you? If you don't mind?

I'm 30, and still one. Even amongst Aspies, who often have relationship problems anyway, I feel like a total failure. On this site even, I've never heard of another one at my age.

i'm 24, almost 25

another silly statement. everythings good so long as its what you want to be doing and arent hurting anyone else. Theres many ways of being promiscuous and not being full of disease.

I doubt that you will find true passion, love and desire in those who's main desire in you is that you don't get affectionate with them, pay your session correctly and gtfo as soon as possible.

It's not just prostitute's that get filthy. People in general that sleep around a lot and have unprotected sex regardless of the circumstances are also ones to watch out for. Besides, not every prostitute asks to be deflowered or in the male case "come-of-age".. A good number of the people in that business are forced into it.

I dunno, there exists people who truly enjoy sex for the sake of sex, and the pleasurable physical sensations that they get from it, and those would benefit from casual sex or even an escort. That would definitely not do it to me, but lately I've been thinking that stuff like that is just the way each of us are wired, which deserves neither praise nor shame. Different people need different things, that's all.

That's dangerous thinking. Are you really sure you want to open that can of worms?

Well, right now I haven't got much to do, and this issue has been spinning in my mind these days, so actually, I do . Is it that bad of a can of worms?

It could be a can of hook worms or pinworms.

If being "wired" in a certain way "deserves neither praise nor shame" and "different people need different things"...

A lot of people have used that argument to try to justify their own disgusting acts of sexual crime.

I know that's not what you were referring to, but you simply worded it in such a naive way that I sincerely hope you don't believe it in that same naive way.

Oh I get what you mean now. I guess I should be more specific with what I meant then. I've noticed that some people have got an attitude of disgust against [EDIT: the people who engage in (if you don't like it, you don't like it, but no need to take it on the people who do)] casual sex; saying that people who engage in it should "grow up", "stop behaving like animals (fun fact: a lot of animals have sex purely for reproduction; in that respect we're worse than animals )" while in the end, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with it. Some of the cases it comes from a morality that comes from culture or religion, which should be questioned, or it is also possible that the person saying that sincerely thinks having sex with an stranger is disgusting. But for some people, men and woman alike, it is not, and they shouldn't be made feel bad because of it, I believe that a pair of consenting adults can do whatever they want if nobody gets hurt in the process. Also, some of the people who frown upon casual sex for the second reason, also take the moral high ground, saying that they only have sex with people they are close with. Is there something intrinsically right with that, too? I don't really think so.

Agreed. Without bringing religion or culture into it, it becomes a matter of personal preference. The problem is there's a lot of disgust either way - people disgusted by those who make their decision religious/cultural-based and people disgusted by those who just pursue casual sex.

For me, I feel my love would be cheapened if I spread it among too many people. And I couldn't have sex without being truly in love with the person or I'd feel so terribly guilty.

I guess I view it as having respect for the woman I will eventually fall in love with. Even though I haven't met her.

Is there, like, any sort of word for the fear of losing your virginity by any chance? Hmmm......

Parthenophthoraphobia?

Yeah I just made it up, and I know nothing about Greek grammar, but that one sort of makes sense.
