Why do a lot of women do this...?
Big coincidence, my friend just got married (and he happens to be an alcoholic). He was holed up in a hotel room after a nasty fight one weekend. He married a woman 10 years older than him with a teenage daughter, works full time, and I can tell you he had it easier a year ago when he was single. I have no idea what was going through his mind, but he's paying for it now.
I think household chores should be divided, but after working all day, nobody wants to snap to it and clean (not me anyway), besides, everyone needs a break at some point.
I've wondered about this one. All over the city, I've noticed that when a woman is out by herself, more often than not she's talking into a cell phone. I'm guessing that in many cases it's a significant other on the other end. How can a person have that much to say, and how can anyone stand to listen for so long to some of the inane things I sometimes hear people talking about? Could the purpose of these conversations be to signal her unavailability to other guys, or that for whatever other reason she doesn't want to interact with other people in the area?
How terrible it would be, to be seen without a phone in use! People might think she's poor, or that nobody is paying attention to her right this minute. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that at least some of these women were talking into a phone that's switched off.
This sounds like wondering why nice guys have such a hard time. No good explanation can be given because there isn't one. Quite frankly, even short exposure to some of the behaviors you've listed would wear me down, and I would need to retreat for the rest of the day.

In my last relationship, after we had been together for about 3 years, she mentioned that she wanted to wait another 5 years before marriage/sex.
Who waits 8 years for that?
Also, last time she visited me in Texas (the relationship was long-distance), she wanted to be in control and have everything her way.

Rest of your LIFE. Try tolerating those behaviors for several years on end. When you see a hole in the fence, you will run for the hills and hide forever after in a cave. It makes GITMO look like a five-star resort.
Odd thing is, NT guys don't seem to be as affected by it. They're much better at just ignoring it, or blowing it off with a shrug. Then they go out and cheat.
Heck if women can raise their kids and clean the house, then so can men. I just don't buy the "they have other things to do" crap and buy "they are too busy doing other things to even have time for the housework or help raising kids."
Heh. Doing the household stuff is not considered important to a lot of guys, why? Because there's no time table attached to it.
Work is important because there's a clock ticking. Same with sports. Laundry done today, tomorrow, etc. isn't as important. Plus, you can always "make do" which isn't possible in endeavors with a deadline.
Re: Bill paying a few minutes? It depends on your living situation.
E.g. Mortgage #1 and #2, Power Gas & Electricity, Property Tax #1, #2, Magazine subscription, home owners insurance #1 & #2, vehicle registration #1, #2, etc. This isn't atypical. Most families with a vacation home or a second mortgage to pay for big purchase are going to have this. If you cannot pay all your bills off with one pay check, you will be balancing things. For most people (who live in apartments) it's no big deal.
But you do have folks who have to manage property tax (>1 paycheck occurs bi-annually or quarterly) in additional to vehicle registration (annually), auto insurance (bi-annually), and home owners insurance (yearly). If you make over $109k a year, this adds another wrinkle as your FICA adjustment steps in and you get more.
Do you own your own home? Do you have kids?
These are HUGE factors as to how long it takes to manage your bills.
I rent and I was going to have a child but I lost it.
My mom kept the house clean when she had kids, now we're all grown. My dad also helped out too like cleaning out the gutters or washing the windows, cleaning the roof. My mom did them too. He also had cut the grass and he has done dishes and laundry and cooking.
Only bills I have are electric, rent, phone/internet, and cable. My husband pays his mobile phone bill online. Plus car insurance but that is every six months when I need to pay it.
I've noticed this with my own mother mostly, but hear about it in other ways:
-women nagging the man to do housework. Or handy work. Or nagging them to get off the TV (or in some cases Computer/Video Game) and PAY ATTENTION to her.
Well its only fair that the man pulls his weight, isn't it? Why shouldn't she get a bit of attention? I give guys I am REALLY into a LOT of attention and am rather hurt if I don't get any back.
What is trivial to you my not be to someone else. If I have fallen for someone, I tend to be more sensitive to what they do. If I don't care, Im really not that into them.
Men do this too. The last person I hung around really damaged my self esteem. And would you want someone you love going to watch strippers? I sure as hell wouldn't.
Quick question.. have you EVER been with anyone you're REALLY into? Because I had a similar train of thought before I had.
Cheers, to the OP!
Alot of women get carried away with these things, and don't realize that they're being a pain in the ass. Most aren't doing it intentionally though, so it's not a huge issue, as long as their willing to cut back a little.

I think that its obvious that men and women are different. The TC didn't say that each and every woman had all of those behaviors but its true, you could probably find those behaviors more commonly in women than in men. Men have their flaws too and they are just as bad in some cases, so I don't see what the big deal is that women might generally be more prone to certain behaviors aspects, even if they're negative. Guys have them as well.
I mean, are we going to start saying this about the creative/positive differences between genders as well? "Oh every guy I meet flips his hair" Um, no chances are they don't. Men and women are made differently, have different levels of hormones and different chromosomes that cause them to develop physically and emotionally different.
Are there exceptions? Obviously. Is any gender weaker or inferior? Imo, not at all. Shoot, maybe guys are if only because they're more prone to learning disabilities. ![]()
Once, I had a colleague (woman) who never learnt to do a proper coffee. On purpose.
I think she found it humiliating to have to serve it in meetings to all those important persons.
For me, it was different: having worked a lot in bars, restaurants and all... well, I didn't care much about that.
Even if I understood her point of view very well.
We were both executive secretaries at that time.
I know why women do it: because they can. The two waves of feminism, in the 70's and in the 90's, effectively stripped men of all their power in the home. (The movements in the late 19th century, like women's right to vote, did not have such an effect; if anything, they made society better.) While in the past, such as in the "Leave it to Beaver" era, men could have their say and give a proper response to what the OP described. Not anymore. Now women can nag, nitpick, insult, and yell at their husbands/boyfriends, and men have little choice but to sit quietly and take it. Watch any sitcom, and the pattern is the same everywhere; and don't tell me "it's just fiction", because the idea to write it had to have come from somewhere. And it seems to be getting worse and worse. I'll be in a cemetery by the time men become nothing more than breeding instruments for women, but I can't help but worry for my future sons. Heck, they already created synthetic sperm from an egg cell.
Don't get me wrong. I'm more than sure that originally, feminism had great ideals in mind about equalizing society. But it took a small group of highly charismatic but aggressive individuals to completely twist it out of context and give it a bad name. It's things like this that make me glad I'm not going to live forever, because our society is not getting any better.
OP, you're really awesome; I'd like to shake your hand. You seem to be the type of woman who takes equal rights and responsibilities. There needs to be more people like you. If WP had a rep point system, I'd give you a lot of points.
- if any guy complaints about those common things in women on this forum, he would be attacked by all women around here like piranha fish do to their victims, but if a woman complaints about those things in women, all other women here do agree with her. *sigh*
i agree fully with threadstarter, and any time I see a guy start a thread like this i agree with him too
Women, take note --->Guys need 'X' amount of space or we go crazy and act like jerks.
Guys take note: Women need X amount of space or else they go crazy and act like jerks too. (Or at least this woman does
I think everything comes down to boundaries and approach, no matter if you're male or female. You have to know your partner well enough to figure out how best to approach them if you have an issue. But people tend to get caught up in so much small BS that isn't worth picking a fight over.
Taking a step back is excellent advice.
Probably the reasons why I'm single; I'm afraid of women described by the thread starter. And 2) NO woman is going to ever change me! If I want to change, I will do the changing upon my will. If you women out there don't like that, there are 3 billion other males that you can try to change.
