Absolute rubbish, another excuse to simply not try because you feel you're predetermined or predestined to feel inadequate or unworthy. You're basically selling yourself short and reinforcing all the negative traits you've already told yourself a thousand times so it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, you've assimilated to the point where you've lost your self worth.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself, stop listening to people who are negative, stop letting them define your worth or sense of self identity and have some fight in who you are.

You could try to be a cuttlefish.. not literally.. but:

I was watching this show, where a smaller cuttlefish I guess posed as females, and were able to sort of just sneak in and impregnate the female without the bigger cuttlefish messing everything up.

They found a way that works for them.

Screw the theories out there about natural selection. I personally think it's a joke.

Why would an Aspie (an independent entity) care to play superficial games such as establishing a spot on the pecking order, aspiring to become a leader of sheep, or securing his or her genes for future generations?

Screw that! Create your own game and devise your own rules! Make your own niche (no matter how peculiar) and establish your legacy that way.

I personally think passing on genes and family name is erroneous (especially with all common last names out there like Johnson," "Smith," or "Jackson.") No one ever cares about your last name or the phenotypes of your offspring were contributed by you and your mate. People are remembered more for their legacies and their impact on the people and society.

Today's society is the best time for Aspies! Intelligence and introspection are much more appreciated than centuries before and as some1 mentioned above, life today in 2011 (and hopefully beyond) provides great opportunities for living a fulfilling life that is beyond reproduction.

I don't know what else to the OP but dare to be different and break away from those most likely flawed arbitrary theories imposed on the mindless populace.

Don't forget that Elvis had aspergers. Look how many women he got in his lifetime.

I heard that even Adam and Eve had aspergers (or at least the mitochondrial Adam and Eve).

Joking aside, even if you're right (I highly doubt) it's his fame, talent and wealth that made him successful with women, not his 'aspergers'.

The 2nd family in that video basically describes my family. My dad was a crackhead drop out with his fair share of mental problems, and my mom is a paranoid schizophrenic. (she has been in a mental home since was a child) When you think about it, there's no wonder how me and my sister ended up the way we are.

It doesn't just stop there, on both my mom and dad's side. Most of my relatives are in jail, on drugs, poor, working at dead-end jobs, uneducated, (most don't finish high school let alone attend college) and/or have some form of mental illness.

I probably won't get a chance to continue the cycle, since there's no chance in hell of me finding a woman willing to marry and procreate with someone like me.

Hmm sounds a lot like my family, except my mom's not a paranoid schizophrenic....more of a narcissist and my dads not a crackhead or a drop out but he's an alcoholic and he's done lots of drugs........my moms side of the family is a bit more well off but not really because most of them have alcohol problems to they just keep it under the surface more and many of them are doing a bit better financially than my dads side of the family. I got a relative in prison for killing someone, my dads been in jail, some of my cousins have been in jail.

Not sure what the point of that is, I guess just to tell you some people here can relate to some of what you've gone through.

Also though there is more to life then marrige and procreation, I personally am not too intrested in either of those......I don't think I would make a very good parent so no kids for me and if I get with a guy long enough we might become legally married but I would see no reason for a big stupid ceremony at a church......ewww, but that's just me. Anyways though you have to kind of define your own life......being able to live what society would consider a normal life isn't everything and its nothing to me.

It's wow but too idealistic and unrealistic.

And I don't think MR20's main concern is securing passing on genes, all what he just wants is a gf.

Who cares?

For me, part of what helped me was I started getting into survivalism. It's an odd subculture of people, but there's lots of useful information and advice in it. My father was a bit into it. Assuming you can keep yourself from getting involved in crazy conspiracy theories and can keep your head above the water and just take what's good from it, it's really good. But for me, life is about surviving at all costs now, and I do things specifically to better myself and make me more capable. I don't look at it in terms of "fitting in" anymore, but "how do I become better." This I believe is a much more healthy thought process, as you don't have to give up your individuality to do it, you only aim to make yourself better. I find it very suitable for me and my NVLD, as my NVLD basically requires my daily life to be made based off constant planning, and I contingency plan for everything ever just to get through my day. So, planning long term with survivalist stuff sorta comes second nature.

I did awesome during a recent power outage we had, as I specifically in my head and in practice prepare myself for "disasters" like that, and while my family had no planning or thought process about such an event, I already had plans set to go, I already had a specific survival radio, learned how to cook food on a car exhaust, had bought an inverter for power from my car, etc. I buy things not so much just because I want them at that moment, but because a lot of times I see a need for them in the future. So I'll buy like, a flashlight, not because of my definite need for it at the moment, but a possible need in the future. It makes my thought process really odd to most people, as most people don't think of things in terms like that. Another example, I bought headlights at Salvation Army, they were new in packaging for a dollar. I knew these lights were generally expensive lights, usually around $20, however, I owned no car that took those lights, but I spent the dollar anyway. Now my mom owns a car that uses those lights, and she wanted brighter lights, and she got them.

Anyway, assuming you don't go mad and live in survivalist fantasy land waiting for the apocalypse, it might do well for you to research some stuff for it. It's all about the pursuit of being the most "fit." Just, again, lots of people become survivalists and go off the deep end and become kinda delusional. But, learning preparedness for disasters, etc, and then learning to use that thought process in your daily life, really helped me. http://ferfal.blogspot.com/ This guy here, he's really good. He writes specifically against the type of survivalists that plan for the Apocalypse or war with China or whatever, and he writes from his own experience of having the currency collapse in his home country of Argentina. He stresses lots of practical things like getting into shape, cooking, and social skills in a survival scenario. If you're completely unaware of the subculture of survivalists I and him speak negatively of, read this thread here and images will come to mind, http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106555

Anyway, yeah, and the Fist of the North Star opening. Do survive!

I agree with Boo. I actually have to disagree with 9512's post; intelligence is actually more looked down upon as a whole. Social skills, the ability to BS your way through life, and other such things that weren't very important before are now the way of the world. Intelligence will just get you taken advantage of. Ask the guys who invented Facebook for example.

True, just look up the current job vacancies, even for the IT and non-sales jobs they often ask in the requirements: Must have excellent communications skills or/and excellent Interpersonal skills.

Despite the detractors on this thread disagreeing with me, I will still stick to my guns and say it's still better to be an Aspie in today's society rather than past ones when fishing, hunting, and brawling skills were the way of life. An Aspie (who lacks physical prowess and social skills) would've been left out for dead by him or herself. 8O

It's true that intelligent people have their ideas stolen or get taken advantage of. But the point is, Aspies with certain talents have made their marks in this world and can still make their mark. Without their intelligence or special talents being acknowledged or capitalized upon in today's society, how would they prove their worth in another time like the caveman days for example?

Social skills and Bsing through life is the way of life but like I said one doesn't need to partake in this herd-like mentality. Find ways to survive but staying true to oneself is important.

Career or jobs don't have to be the endeavor that defines a person. That's why I mentioned "create your own game and devise your own rules." To obtain immortality (if that's what one wants) or establish one's legacy (no matter how small or big), one should find unconventional ways to accomplish it. Unrealistic? I don't know. I prefer to think positively. Anything's possible with hope. I like to think I can accomplish anything with the imagination of a child rather than go in with the pessimism of a bitter adult.

But hey...That's just me...I am proud to be different and I want to lie on my death bed knowing I chose to follow what my heart tells me instead of following the conventional definition of what is success. 8)

But really...stay positive and dare to be different...That's my message. 8)

How old are you 9512? And what do you do for living? What did you achieve so far?
