The Science of Dating Website Profiles for Men

I think it's highly disingenuous for a person who looks like a young Richard Gere to be giving advice on 'how to be successful with women' to other men!
It's the equivalent of me looking like Michelle Pffeifer and bestowing my worldly wisdom on how to get men onto other women! I'm sure they'd love me for it! Lol

Easy to criticize something for nothing without actually trying to use the advice in this thread.

I don't need to use the advice - I'm not male for a start. I was pointing out the ridiculousness of a good looking person thinking his success with women is down to his conversational skills and thinking that all men are capable of getting the same results, however they look. It's totally unrealistic, patronising and a bit cruel in my opinion.

It is down to his conversational skills. Actually, more importantly, it's down to how he feels about himself because how he feels about himself is how others will feel about him when he walks into a room full of strangers. Guys who are good-looking typically do feel better about themselves, but be shocked to know that even guys who look like Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp will be unattractive to women if they have low self-esteem. In the same token, ugly-looking guys who feel great about themselves and have a high level of self confidence are able to attract a lot of women. This guy is living proof:

The interest these girls are showing in Wolfheart is at least 75% based on how he looks, take it from me.
Yes, some people are less shallow than others, hence people who look less standardly attractive can find partners but the techniques an attractive person uses to find a partner are not automatically going to work for all other people and it's a fallacy to imply that they will.
Let's do an experiment - Wolfheart creates a second profile on OK Cupid but uses the photo/photos of one of the men on here who has had far less success with women
so that we get their photo combined with Wolfheart's sparkling repartee and we'll see how much success they get. I predict nowhere near as much.

Pick me! Me! What fun we shall have with this change of identities!

Yes lets do it!
But you're very good looking anyway so it's not going to be proving much of a point.
Don't you have much success on dating sites?

No, I gave up on that about a year ago. I lack confidence and when I finally managed to keep a conversation going, I did not know what to do and I deleted my profile as soon as an opportunity presented itself (i.e.: the girl spent a longer time than usual to reply). Besides, it takes months until I feel comfortable around people I know; online dating would not work for someone like me.

But what about talking to other shy people?
You could open a new profile and ask people on here for advice on how to respond

Life exceptions are just....life exceptions.
I totally agree with nessa on that, hoot looks is the major factor for success in online dating (and I agree with the 70% estimation).

Oooh! We're confident aren't we?!
I'm sure of it.
But if you are such a raging success with the ladies why are you on here on a Saturday evening?
I just got back from working for the whole day and hitting the gym hard, you are quick to point the finger and blame the external without really taking the advice. I mean you want to be able to blame it on looks and say it's simply not in my genes when you know really if guys like that in the video can pull an attractive girl, so can most guys on this forum.

I'm just a man trying to look at it from a positive perspective and no amount of words will make up for your negative spirit. So what would you prefer I do? tell the guys on here that it's hopeless? I simply don't believe that, you might believe that some people can't find success in love but I can assure you, many can. Come back when you are making a positive and noble effort without criticizing something for nothing.
