I think you should replace the word "nice" with pansy. Make sure you're not too much of a pansy because that's unattractive to a female. A woman needs a man who can look after her and will fight for her. If you're weak, cowardly, and desperate, thats a sign of a pansy.

Don't be too much of a jerk either. Sure jerks can get women more easily but it's not about quantity, its about quality. Being a jerk isn't going to make you more happy in life.

So my advice is, don't be a jerk or a pansy. Be in the middle or a combination of the two. Be a jerpansy.

I for one am sick and tired of these "nice guy" threads written by lonely losers who want to prove their manliness by throwing weak men under the bus as a way of lashing out at a hostile world. (The irony!) It is possible as a man to be assertive on your own terms without being patriarchal or misogynistic. If you always have to be assertive on her terms, you are a "nice guy". It has to be right for both of you, not for just the guy or just the girl. And for gods sake, it doesn't have to be perfect! The margin of error is thin enough today, and as far as that's concerned, speaking in person is much different than typing away on WrongPlanet. Nobody brings up speaking history in person unless they wish to be douchey for their amusement or the amusement of their friends. Take a risk, you cowards! If she doesn't like what you said, then move on. If she thinks you are being patriarchal, you don't have to engage in self-righteous suicide. Just learn from it and move on. Hurting a womans feelings doesn't make a man heartless any more than dwelling on mistakes makes him noble. If you have to deliver an Oscar-winning speech every time you are in the presence of a woman, chances are you need to loosen up. There are enough phonies out there, and the rumor is, women don't like men who are dishonest.

Here's a suggestion: Instead of trying to get her to like you, just say what's on your mind and let her decide for herself what she wants to say. Focus on her and not the conversation itself, unless conversation with a woman is more important than a woman. If you have nothing to say, then say nothing. And if you don't know how to do all this, now is a very good time to start practicing. You will make mistakes. It's OK. And if its not OK, you might want to consider talking to someone else.

Personally, not only am I tired of the whining and self-pity, but when the "losers" are told where they are wrong and what they can do to improve their chances, they make even more whiny excuses and claim that none of the advice will ever work with them because all of the blame is in the women, the men they are attracted to, society in general, and never themselves!

I've stopped giving them free advice. If they don't want to take it, then let them wallow in their self-pity.

I guess that makes me have nice guy syndrome. Just not in the context of dating.

It's because people tend to think that their advice is more helpful then it really is.

Yes, sometimes people give bad advice. But refusing to take any advice doesn't mean the advice isn't helpful. Sometimes facing up to things can be difficult and it is easier to say the advice is useless than it is to follow it.

I do follow people's advice, people just think I don't because I didn't get results. I've been following the same pieces of advice forever, and I've gotten nowhere.

1) I don't constantly whine about not having a girl friend in public. I even try to dodge the conversation anytime someone brings it up.
2) I don't call women nonstop, once I have their phone numbers. I always wait patiently for them to call back. They just never do.

None of this makes any sense. A misogynist is "a person who hates, dislikes, mistrusts, or mistreats women. " So if he is a nice guy then he won't mistreat women.

More likely it's because the whiners and complainers are so desperate for attention that they will deny an obvious truth just to see the replies.

That was the point I was making. All this fuss about nice guys does not make any sense at all. There are blogs upon blogs of women whining nonstop about how nice guys are such horrible misogynistic pigs, when their logic is so obviously flawed.

...and you somehow know everything about a person who you've never actually seen in person?

Maybe to some the word Nice in the prhase "nice guy" has a contradictory meaning than the word Nice in general

Nice guys end up finishing first. Listen it doesn't matter how many women you sleep with, that doesn't make your life any happier. When you're older, you will regret the things you have done. I think the best time to have sex with someone is when you're married. The reason I say this is because when you're married, you truely love each other and if you truely love each other then sex is better.

Think about it, you're always feeling bad and guilty when you look up porn or the sex isn't as good if you do it with women you don't know or you're just just feeling really guilty.

and yes im just an 18 year old kid but at least I have the optimism and ambition of a child. Something that many adults can only reminisce about.

They're talking about self-proclaimed "Nice Guys", not guys who actually are nice. I believe other people have already made this point.
