That’s never happened to me.

It's happened to me, but I was oblivious to it and found out about it way after the fact. I think that might be worse than never having it happen!

Story of my life. I have always been oblivious when it comes to women who've had crushes on me. I agree that's definitely worse in my book.

Same here. I'm told I have a very charming mask. :)

Also highly oblivious in my teens and twenties. Apparently a lot of guys were crazy about me and I had no clue until social dynamics blew up

Just don't bend down in front of me.

Actually,
There is only a danger of that happening if *I bend down.

So I tried asking my crush if he wanted to meet up again. I thought he might be alright with it considering that nice text he sent me in response to mine a little over a week ago. He said no. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. My confidence has taken a major hit now and I don't think I'll ever be able to tell him how I feel. My anxiety is telling me that he doesn't like me at all and he just doesn't want to hurt my feelings. He said he'd prefer to keep to himself for a while because of what he's been through the past few months even though he was able to meet with me a week and a half ago. Maybe he already knows I like him in that way and doesn't want to be involved with that kind of stuff. I don't know anymore.

That’s a rejection - now it is time to ghost him.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Boo; it doesn't look good. I'm sorry.

You have nothing to be sorry about my dear.

You were brave.

It did cross my mind that he may be anxious about socialising at this difficult time.

I hope you can hold your head up high.

I can't believe I wasted a whole year trying to get close to that sod only for him to reject me like everyone else. I give up.

I agree with Boo,
For whatever reason, it is clear he isn't interested.
Time to move on, imo.

I guess you could ask him why he isn't interested in seeing you, for closure's sake.
No guarantee he will respond.
C'est la vie. <shrug>

This may be more of a situation of timing for whatever reason but do respect his wishes.
If you feel compelled and brave enough to weather rejection, you might send him a note checking up on his feelings in a month or two.
Sorry that it didn’t work out, congrats for being brave enough to try.

You didn't waste a year. You spent time with a person that made you happy for a while. You also learned more about yourself and how to handle this type of situation. You grew and had an experience that we all go through. Remember you were braver than a lot of other people out there. Yes, it sucks it didn't work out the way you wanted but it definitely wasn't a waste of time.
