What I discovered is that, instead of feigning interest out of politeness, online, women don't even feel the need to say anything at all.

Why would feigning interest be a good thing? I thought honesty and all that was valued.

Because I thought they were being genuinely friendly at the time. Then I called them, and they never answered.

The male-to-female ratio in online dating means that, unless you're gay, it's a waste of time if you're a man. It's about the worst way of trying to meet someone.

10 years ago, what you're saying was somewhat true. But its obvious that either you're on the WRONG f*****g dating sites or you're just talkin' s**t because on the sites that I use there are PLENTY of cute girls. Take a look at Okcupid sometime buddy.

I'm not the most attractive female but I found an absolutely gorgeous guy on Facebook and am now in a long term relationship with him. Just cultivate out-of-the-ordinary interests and befriend people who like the same stuff. I found my boyfriend through the world of underground black metal. It's the same for guys, because he asked me out first.

Yeah, and vastly more men than the cute girls - I never said there were no cute girls. I've already taken a look at Okcupid (and the gender ratio thing is also true there). Online dating is like real-world dating (males still have to take the initiative, most people are shallow, etc), except that in the real world the male-to-female ratio is closer to one.

^^ not to mention that people usually don't delete their profiles once they get a gf/bf ....so there's tons of useless profiles.

This is really true. Whilst I will never respond to any message just saying that someone likes the sound of me, thinks I am cool, thinks I am hot, makes some really creepy comment about liking high heeled shoes, etc etc, I really like it if someone sends me a message talking about shared interests in music, books or other things.

That's the thing. I wouldn't get yourself too worried about not having a girlfriend out of this lot - is this the best you can do for talent? Well that's not good enough.

Well, I wasted years in different chatrooms and messengers asking people what books did they like to read, what music were they into or whether did they practice any sport. It was either something terribly commonplace or nothing. . . and then some random insult.

My greatest problem was finding someone that wasn't just "in my free time. . . I like to hang out! me and my friends go to bars and stuff". Even if I tried having a conversation about different clubs to go to it was still something shallow like "i don't know. . . we like, go to different places. . . depends". This is all people supposedly over 19. . .

Go to specialist forums that are about the music and books you like. Lots of bands websites have really busy forums. People may not be there to find love specifically but lots arrange to meet up at gigs, and I know couples who have met that way.

My girlfriend would get mad at me if started going to places to meet chicks.
She contacted me herself at some forum last year.
I had never spoken to someone like her before.

Even today, random girls I meet are awful compared to her in the sense that it's still more of what I was running into before.

If I want to talk to people with nothing upstairs I can talk to people locally. I don't need to chase women to do that.

Online dating is only useful for gays but barely useful for straight guys since girls don't need online dating to get a bf =) . You might only find hags online :P ....not to mention the female/male ratio.

You're a detestable moron.

I'm talking about MySpace and Facebook, where most young people have accounts.

Ooooo....you have just declared war on the wrong person ....may the heavens show you some mercy.
Btw,facebook and MySpace are not meant to be dating sites. If you try to approach women in these sites by sending them pms or writing comments on their profiles you would be seen by them as a stalker and this is a big turn off for girls, moron.

This is good; it encourages people to talk to you. :D

(I'm being sarcastic. :? )

No offense but LePetitPrince is not the kind of person I want to be talking to. His record for misogynistic posts and rampant cynicism adds nothing to the conversations he's participated in in this subforum.

hehe....Look who's accusing me of being misogynist !!The potential rapist loser : http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt50580.html

Don't you think that his thread shows some mental instability? :-/
