yeah this sort of thread is a death trap
because aspies far and wide here flock to give an opinion they feel they're entitled too
maybe because NT's tell them to shut their hole they go on overload here (I tell people to shut their hole if I don't care)

basically, you just wanna be flat out with it, ya know
don't sugar coat it or lie
that will just make it worse

Q: What happens when you're so Far Left that you can't even see the Right Wing anymore?

right wing beliefs are all complete crap, every last bit of it is utter filth that wants us to seperate us from others any way different then us, control us, give us guns, and all that crap
we're better off without them
just because you might feel that it wrong, doesn't mean it is
and also doesn't mean anyone needs to listen to you
what makes you (or any right wingist) so damn special that they can tell me how to live?

I told something similar to that to some jo-ho's that came to my door

Ouch.

That was kind of a rhetorical question.

I also have to ask why you were a lesbian before getting in a relationship with your husband or are you bisexual?

I'm for gay and lesbian rights but this just sounds all chaotic and doesn't sound like there isn't any real relationship going on here except fooling around?

Double bad for your kid because it's not a healthy or stable environment not just b/c of your preferences but I have to agree with protossX it's pretty selfish putting your "needs" first and not your kid's.

I grew up in a chaotic family nothing that had anything to do with polygamy or polyamory but it was unstable with all the strangers that would come over plus alcoholism. It's not what you would call a real family.

If this is what you're doing outside your family, then why even bring it up?

I agree with these sentiments. People with Asperger's syndrome in general prefer the familiar. Exposing your son to constantly shifting, deviant (in the sociological sense) lifestyles will not be easy for him to understand, much less internalize. I'm all for letting people live their own lives, but something like polyamory is probably better done without children involved.

i think its wrong to unintentionally "force" your kid into this, much like what religious people do \ with there kids, it unfair but if he truely is happy meeting YOUR friends or something then no prob, if you have exposed him to family friends all his life he might be used to it and might like it & want it more

When I was a kid, there was infidelity in the household and its presence was very harsh on my sister and I..there were huge nasty fights.....very traumatising...we were brought into something we had no control over..I remeber being interogated by my dad about my moms activities when I was only 7 or so.....it was awful awful awful......a nightmare.......that affected our family for years...maybe it wasn't just that...but he very fabric of my family was pretty warped and that was just a part of it. I am not blaming anyone..we were poor...artsy...emotionally immature....there was alot of alcohol around....

Introducing polyamory to an older kid in a functional and tactful manner...seems like it has potential of being far less traumatic.

This is really beside the point, but I have two boyfriends. It is really no big deal. I don't feel like I am doing anything morally wrong....they both know each other and know about each other.....I see my "secondary" on a schedule...I wish I could see him more often..but I can't.
They are both free to see other people. It is my first experience with polyamory...it sorta evolved that way as a means of dealing with my "primary" boyfriend's repeated infidelity.

...It is just a slightly different paradigm than the norm.....Both my boyfriends are at least somewhat ASish....and my "secondary" partner is a longtime good friend who is so shy that it is really difficult for him to talk to most girls but we have gotten along great for years...so hopefully having a part-time girlfriend is better than nothing at all...I guess till he finds the full-time girlfriend that he deserves.

There aren't any kids involved. I don't know how it would be if there were. I think that having witnessed extreme dysfunction in a nuclear family setup....I would not be so quick to denounce a non-traditional family makeup as um....neccesarilly having the potential to be any worse.
