OTOH, we function like a computer or a safety critical/life critical system - we avoid behaviors that are "risky" via logic and reasoning and if we do find ourselves in that situation we freeze up and just can't handle our problem - very much like how a computer will BSOD or kernel panic.

Again, risk taking can help but - a lot the guys I knew who were even exceptionally good on sport bikes and had a lot of bike and skill to show off or who could master extreme sports, if they were nerds at heart to begin with it helped a little, smoothing the geek out of the social skills helped, but, the world in some way can almost always tell who you originally were and it tend to be largely inflexible on its stance regardless of who you try to assert yourself as.

With our logic, taking a risk and failing badly is like the avionics on an Airbus plane or the electronic throttle control on a Toyota failing. BAD and we feel like crap for days afterwards.

I'm really, really trying to get myself to take risks - doing that one thing that scares you. I'll be honest, the adrenaline rush is AMAZING, but I know it's a coat of paint on a graffiti-covered wall. It just seems that people with AS/HFA are geeks or nerds at their core and no matter how hard we try, we can't hide it. I admit, I know quite a bit about the inner workings of cars, buses, computers, and most other things that are mechanized. Girls don't want to hear about it. They're more concerned with pop culture and shopping from my observations.

The last time I took a risk that I can vividly remember, I was flying off a jump that was a good 5-10' high on my snowboard. The landing was rough but that feeling was incredible.

I agree that its all worth doing for the sake of doing - either for enjoyment, self-esteem,feeling less one-dimensional. My point in general though is that the dating problems that aspies and cerebral NT's face are much more profound than what's generally admitted.

i think the risk taking of extreme sports is different to social risk. i did scary mountain biking, but falling off a bike and breaking something is less scary than being shaken to the core by social embaresment.

And I need someone to literally SHOVE me into that zone, get laughed at and repeat this cycle until I either make a fool of myself or get burned out.

I've been marinating myself in self-sorrow for the past 96+ hours. I know it's not helping me, but it's the only thing I can find solace in. I just don't know how I can help myself and it's going to take a while. I'm just tired of being the weirdo socially.

I think Aspie males might one day invent a world without women. They will just invent these egg pods that fertilise sperm and men will ejaculate into them and the babies will grow inside. Of course only male fetuses will be allowed to develop in the pods as men invent all the logical stuff like train engines that the world needs. They will be a lot happier in their male only world. Noone to fetch them a beer though, they will have to do that themselves.

You must be joking! If this was a100% male aspie world, we would have robots to fetch our beers. No need for women at all.

Guys, I've come to a realization over the past day or so.

I have no issue talking to people at school and I'm starting to work on my small talk - with a few problems of course. I'm actually decently functional when it comes to the social aspect of AS - but I still have a ways to go. I was at the gym tonight and I started to think in my head all this self-pity/self-sorrow about me being the only virgin in my circle of friends is only going to jinx me. However, the way forward is a hard path. My chick magnet NT friend told me to work on me - all the little crap like relationships leading to sex will eventually happen - and from my reading here, if it isn't to a NT bombshell but to an AS female, so be it.

So, how can I work on my social skills - or is that a broad question? I'm trying to book an appointment with my psych ASAP.
