I am 24 years old and did not have any dates at all until this year. What changes was when I received a diagnoses with Asperger's earlier this year I started going to Autism spectrum groups in my area just to make friends with my same condition. I also wrote on my OkCupid profile that I have Asperger's and though it scared off all the NT's, Asperger guys were more attracted to me. I've gone from not being asked out ever to being asked out three times this year.

If you are an aspie girl you could have plenty of aspie guys to choose from because, they outnumber us and many are looking for companionship!

Unless you have a religion and are an aspie girl...especially a religion like being mormon. Then you're just screwed.

I'm not excepting anything but I will say I am available & I don't really have a set criteria I'm looking for. I just want someone to give me a chance who will try to make the relationship work with me so things won't be one-sided. I want a partner to share my life with

Sometimes it would potentially be better if marriages (yes, let's think ahead) are arranged. :D

In many cultures this is common practice. Parents (usually) try to find a fitting partner for their son or daughter. Sometimes this goes horribly wrong, especially when the kids themselves have absolutely no right to disagree and when the marriage deal is focused on money and business, rather than trying to find a genuinely decent partner.

But I once read some survey where they saw that people in these arranged marriages do not necessarily have worse relations than people who find their own loved ones.

I know this way of thinking is probably shocking for many people, and I'm not sure if I'm personally a fan of this, but at the moment I see it as another potential system. In fact in countries where they have this system, they are just as shocked to hear about the modern western (NB: in European culture arranged marriages also existed for thousands of years) dating system. And we have to agree to some extend that 'our' system has some imperfections as well, as we can see in the rising tendency of endless divorces, while other people remain lonely for life, while again others seem to be unable to find a decent partner, and instead go once more for that violent macho, or unfaithful dumb blonde with a keen interest for spending money.

In those other cultures they do not take the 'falling in love' thing seriously. They probably see it more as a short-term mental disease (which it actually is) which clouds one's judgement.

If you hypothetically put two completely random people (man and woman of approx. same age) on an island, will they eventually fall in love? In those other cultures they use this idea to eventually forge love within an arranged relationship.

Another thing to consider is that our view on love and family life are all relatively new. Looking back in time, from not too long ago (let's say 100 years), to the dawn of man (100.000 years ago?), families including all generations lived together for life. Now kids are supposed to move out as soon as possible and the relationships within the family fade away, until one day you may visit your mother in a retirement home once per month.

Are we on the right track? I'm not saying we aren't, but it's something to consider perhaps.

I posted about wanting an arranged marriage before bbad. The majority of members weren't too keen on the idea thou. The typical dating scene is impossible for me & I'm not really picky & mostly looking for someone who will give me a real chance so I would LOVE to be set up with someone

Arranged marriages WOULD NOT WORK.

The thing with love that I'm starting to notice, is that it has to be equal.

The minute one becomes the person in power, it goes down the drain. Likewise, if it's always a struggle for power, that's gonna be an issue.

When you look for love yourself, you have a better chance of finding a power equality (or I guess less inequality) than if 2 people are just put together.

For instance, I am competitive and aggressive...if I got a passive guy, I might get bored or I might hurt him or whatever, if I got too much of a loud-mouth, I'd be stubborn and end up getting hurt myself. I either mesh really well, or not at all with a person...and if I got a not at all....things would be bad, real bad :shameonyou:

yeah my boyfriend was the same, 23 was a virgin when I met him.
I'm breaking up with him today so thats probably not helpful, he's too clingy for me, I'm seriously not ready for any kind of relationship.
you could probably find someone if you put yourself out there got drunk slapped on the makeup acted a bit slu*ty, but seriously then you would probably end up with some total w*ker, so I would just chill and the right guy will come for you.
