I fail to see how an argument about human hormones from 2 unqualified persons has anything to do with wether facial hair is sexy. Now if you argued as to what hormones make sexier hair id say you were on topic

if the OP took the conversation in that direction, then it is still on topic for him. and if a thread goes in a new direction, that's ok too. no rules are being broken.

i noticed you didn't post any opinions on the topic, but decided to harp on contributors instead. a far better strategy would be to post something that you feel to be on-topic, as BrokenEnvoke has done.

Well, considering Im a heterosexual male then you might have an idea why i dont really have a stance on wether they are sexy or not. Simply curiosity at what the other side has to say.

yes, if it goes on for several pages we will sometimes split it off. this hasn't gone of for several pages, and it still relates to the topic. so if you don't mind allowing the discussions here to continue, that would be great. because this IS a derailment.

I personally don't see beards as ugly, and the sensation of them has never really bothered me (I used to play with my dad's big, bushy mustache when I was a kid). However, I have some rather strange personal qualifacations for them.
I don't like the look of big, bushy beards that almost completely cover the mouth, because when they talk, it looks like all the hair is writhing.... ugh. And I don't think that those ridiculous, pencil thin beards that only edge the lower jaw are attractive either. I sort of like it in between. Also, for reasons I don't understand, long hair coupled with a beard annoys me. I have no idea why. And also, the beard must be clean and well kept too.
I like Robert Downey Jr's in Iron man. I thought it added to his masculinity. In fact, I wish he had a denser one.
And another strange thing, I find beards more attractive if they have a bit of grey in them. I think it looks good, especially if his hair is dark.
As long as the beard is not like Gimli's or Gandalf's (because if it was, I would wind up playing with it all day), I'm usually good with it

Whether or not beards are attractive on men is very subjective and it can depends on various things. For example, is the person applying for a job? Then the beard should be neatly trimmed. Or is the man trying to impress a female? Etc.

Well, I don't like a long, full beard... it just isn't appealing to me. I can't quite tell you why - I'm not sure myself. All I know is I don't like it. My ex had a beard and it was all scratchy and just kind of icky when I tried to kiss him, blech...

I don't mind some scruffiness, though. Body hair isn't repulsive, either.

What is better, Orthodox Christian beard or proper Islamic beard?




For some religious talk, in Orthodox Christianity, it's sorta encouraged to have a beard. It's considered a sign of humility. Of course you can have a beard and be a jerkface, too, but yes. Interestingly, Latins (Roman Catholics) don't have bearded priests for a few reasons. Bearded clergy I think are much cooler, though. Go bearded clergy.

I myself don't have a full beard, I only have a mustache, almost a goatee (can't make it connect), and then Lupin III sideburns. I think beards are pretty cool. I tend to think the opposite and consider someone with a beard as more trustworthy, too, as like, no car salesman, timeshare seller, etc, will have one, so that means they're instantly more likely in a career of more trustworthy character. I personally like facial hair because it makes me look older, and to a point, more intimidating and less effeminate. Like at age 20 I've had people guess my age at like 30, just because I have my facial hair and a mustache. I prefer men with beards- indicates he doesn't buy into the nonsense that is the Western obsession with hair removal.

Even if women with hormonal imbalances (can sometimes) have MORE hair than others,
to have NO hair at all is otherwise in nature a sign of prepubescence, IE, non-fertility.

Or, in the modern world, a hairphobic culture that fetishizes youth.

So long as said hairphobes don't employ double standards like several in this thread, I'm whatever about it.
