More and more as the holidays keep coming and going, I'm falling in that same boat. I'm usually the grumpy guy who wants to do something different while everyone has their significant others by their side, especially on new year's eve.

I know that feeling. I used to love Christmas with my family, but now I'm 100s of miles away. And my grandfather is quickly dying of cancer. He probably won't even make it to Christmas. Back when I lived with my dad we had a Jack Russell that loved to curl up next to someone at night, and for awhile that really helped. I've been living alone for the past year, and I have terrible insomnia. I can't sleep unless I have alcohol first, but I refuse to allow myself to drink on weekday nights (family history of drinking problems).
So yeah, life can be an arduous death-march sometimes. Especially right around this time of year.

New Year's Eve is the worst! Everybody that's not single grabs their SO to kiss them and tell them how much they love them right at the stroke of Midnight, and then you're left standing there by yourself, being reminded of what a loser you must be because the opposite sex won't even give you the time of day. It's like everybody is rubbing it in your face.

Yep.
As someone who once got to be with someone in my life, as nice as it could be it was also very frightening and exhausting.
Does touch bother you? I'm NT, but I do have Cerebral Palsy. I like an Aspie guy that I work with, although he only wants to be friends.

I had this big idea in my head of what it would be like, then it happened and it felt so not worth my time. Sometimes I manage to miss it I can't tell if it was the person or the whole thing.
We could put you in a box with a girl you like in another room in the same box, and then until we opened the box you'd be in both states at once, at least from our perspective.
We would call you schrodinger's equestriatola.

Seems my whole Facebook newsfeed is blowing up today with statuses of "It's our first Thanksgiving, ______! I love you sooooo much, and I can't wait to spend every other holiday for the rest of our lives together with you!", and pictures of engagement rings. Why??? I hate when people do that. It's like they're saying "Look at me! Look at us! Aren't you just so happy that we're together? It's the greatest thing ever, and we're so happy and so cute and everybody just loves us!"
Not me! I think it's annoying. Maybe I'll stop being so bitter if I could actually get a boyfriend.
There's a hilarious article I read recently (I'll see if I can find it again) about the most annoying engagement Facebook statuses. And it's funny because I've seen all of them at one point or another. I'm happy for people who have managed to find someone who loves them and understands them, and wants to be with them--I know how hard it is, and I'd kill to meet a man like that--but there are some statuses that are plain ridiculous.
The other thing I think is that if people have to brag about how happy they are, the more they put that on for show. And the harder they work to try and convince us, the more showy it is.
I feel like that. Sometimes I connect with someone and I think, "oh, I like this"bbut I can never keep the relationship going, or more often, I can never begin a relationship. So I wonder if I am more suited to being alone.
Being alone is difficult for me to accept though. I feel like I need someone very patient, but I'm not sure that person exists.
I hate feeling like it's just me against the world.
