She's like Bigfoot to me. I almost never encounter her.

I still don't want kids. That won't change, despite everyone telling me otherwise. I babysat enough when I was growing up. I now want freedom, money, travel, a nice house and the ability to jump on a train for the weekend or go trekking without having to worry about babysitters.

Perhaps you need to advertise for a traveling companion?

Isn't that just the same issue though 8O

I think you may be generalizing women a bit too much. I'm sure you can meet a woman in her 30s who is fun and spontaneous and not looking to have kids. But if you can't, why not exclusively date women in their 20s? Problem solved. . .

'Travelling companion' to most people means friends with benefits abroad. I want an actual partner, even if they don't want the whole marriage thing (I know marriage is a bit of an unfair deal for men these days, so I don't care so much about a ring and legal document). But I do want the type of relationship that married couples have where you grow old together. I appreciate that might sound old fashioned and stupid to a lot of people now.

>>>Your right there except one thing some guys already have kids and don't want any more ;) so if you don't hate kids that's another option.

Yeah, I tried that with two divorced guys. The kids I had no issue with, but both had crazy ex's that were always hanging around. It felt like a weird threesome relationship a lot of the time. If you have kids with someone then they are never completely out of your life. The only way I would date a man with kids would be if he was widowed or the kids were grown up and moved out (so no mental ex girlfriends/wives to deal with). I really don't like drama!

I recall a college professor that got divorced after 15 or 20 years of marriage--he said that they were "too close" but she moved onto other things. Then, a couple years later he gets married to a 20-something and has half a dozen kids! He was pretty short--perhaps 5' 3" Might have helped that he had tenure.

Because lots of women , feminists especially view that as bad. See men who do it as creeps and cradle robbers.

I'm only 28 and it's already not ok for me to date a 18-24 year olds

Plenty of single guys on wp who likely are on your wavelength.

Date whomever you like, provided they're of legal age. Not sure what feminism has to do with one's dating prospects.

I'm 55, and I don't think I'm boring. I have an interest in traveling the world. The only "luxury" I really want is air-conditioning when the temperature's over 20 Celsius at night.

There's really nothing wrong with a 28-year-old guy dating a woman of, say, 23. I don't think there's any stigma at all. Maybe if the girl is under 20--though that's still legal until she's younger than 18.

Sly: if a 22 year old woman goes for you, take her!

Fear? What fear?

How can anything so predictable instill fear?

I and probably most folks don't begrudge anyone of legal age the occasional hot 18 or 19 year old (or, hell, 17 yo if that's legal in your state).

A grownup who dates an endless series of interchangeable 17-18-19 year olds? Whole 'nother story.

Anything that you do repeatedly can become boring. This has nothing to do with age. Some people enjoy dancing and loud music through out their whole lives . I know some. I do. However, I must have friends to accompany me. This has become more difficult because I moved away and so did all my friends. Finding friends seems harder as you age and was already hard enough for my aspie self.
I love travel - drove across the States for the third time last year and went to Hawaii earlier this year. I love video games and mmporpg and board games. I hike and bike and just got a puppy. Life does not get boring and anyone that finds any age group boring should best look inward first for the source of the problem.
I adore babies and had three. They are an amazing adventure and were not boring at all to me. It's all about perspective. Many of the OP friends probably just got bored of doing same thing over and over that he continues to do. There is a great depth of feeling and adventure in finding someone with whom you want to share an extended relationship. You discover yourself along the way. I think as you mature your perspective turns from an inward focus to an outward one....if you are lucky.

No one goes for me anymore. Seems I'm outside most 20ish olds range now. Most say 18-27. Oddly a lot of women my age 28 say 30-40.

Is 28-29 the dead zone

Quite the opposite, actually. You're in that perfect gray area. People in their 20's still see you as "one of them"---after all, you still have a "2" in front of your age. But the older crowd starts to actually take you seriously, rather than seeing you as a "kid". I was 29 when I took my first cruise: I was able to make out with a 23-year-old girl, and have a friendly debate about gentrification with a couple in their 50's, all in one day.

I suppose there's even a plus side to older women. While most women in their 20's would rather cut off their hands and feet, than dance with a man they don't find attractive (e.g. me), women in their 30's, by contrast, can compartmentalize between social dancing and romantic dancing. The catch is that they expect you to know the difference too.
