The problem is, the more intelligent people would consider not breeding, but research suggests the less intelligent breed more and would be more inclined not to get involved in this.
I came across an internet article, some time ago, which indicated that global IQ has dropped, over recent years.

The water in Rome is extraordinarily tasty. You can drink it almost straight from the fountains. It saved me during 98 degree weather.

Unfortunately they also have very old leaded pipes for transporting the water. Water will leach lead cations from the pipes over time. If the water tasted “sweet”, you likely consumed leaded water. Lead is most dangerous to developing children, as it can cause mental defects.

As for the original question, I never plan on bringing human children into this world. The world would never survive an advanced version of me, as I know what I am capable of under the influence of anger. I do however plan on bringing life to some of my projects, which you could consider “my children”. They will last here much longer than I will.

The romans did use lead somehow to sweeten their wines.

Yep, they made lead II acetate. It was made by boiling down their grapes in lead pots. The reduced sugary material contains acetic acid naturally, which reacted with the lead metal to form the red compound. It was used like honey for their food stuffs. They also used it for makeup and as a contraceptive. I think they called it sapa if I remember right. It is a toxic poison that bioaccumulates over time and causes damage down the genetic family tree upon constant exposure.

I've actually said things like that about that movie to my girlfriend at least a couple times this year.

I'm pretty dumb compared to my peers in various ways. I struggled majorly with school so I'm definitely not book-smart. Like some of us Aspies, I have bad social intelligence & I may also have bad emotional intelligence. I'm also definitely not street-smart. Some things I've read about Aspergers say that we lack common-sense but from what I've seen on this forum & from knowing myself, I actually think we have a lot more of it than NTs. Unless what NTs call common-sense is knowing who & what are popular this week like pop culture.

If everyone in the world decided to stop having children, we would all be doomed.

That is a very good reason to not have kids. We're killing each other & destroying or home which will wipe our our species anyway.. The sooner we go extinct, the better it is for the planet.

No, but at the moment it’s enough for only half of us to have kids.

Scientists already predict that someday there will be no more humans. I don't know when that will happen. Hopefully it won't be in my life time.

Can't happen in your life time except you aren't human as well.

Oh, I found this thread after just starting a poll in General Discussion.

OP - did you always know you don't want them or is it a more recent decision influenced by current events? Are you parents or partner being annoying about it?

It's nice to see others thinking this way, some people make a huge fuss about it, even if it's none of their business.

It is not a very recent matter. My ex partner was annoyed about it.

My parents are so... indifferent about it tho.

Having children brings you to the point, ultimately, hopefully, where you are able to love another human being unconditionally, more than you even
love yourself. Nothing like it for learning to exit our own preoccupation with self. :D

Well, other relatives do tho; like aunts.

Parents were always indifferent about a lot of things lol (even of things that most parent care about), but that is an another story. They are so.... odd.

I definitely feel that overall, probably fewer people should have kids, overpopulation is an issue...and many people may not be great parents..but I think people have the right to do it, and we don't have the right to take that away, it's not our place to do it, unless it's absolutely necessary (like it was in China for a while, in which case it wasn't taken away completely, only limited). If you don't want to have them then you don't have to, it's not like anyone is forcing you. That doesn't mean it's wrong for others to. Children are the future, and we were all children once. If you want humanity to have a future then you realize someone's gotta reproduce. Probably good it ain't going to be you, if you have the insight to see and accept that, but rest assured the world needs new people to continue...and I'm personally not about to see the world die anytime soon, nor do I want to leave it fully in others' hands. I'd like to leave a legacy and be a part of something bigger than myself in a direct way and what better way to do it than start a family and bestow your values on them...and raise them to be the kind of people you want to lead the future...of course they get to be their own people too so you're giving them freedom and opportunity...I find some contrary views to be very pessimistic and bitter.
