Sounds like a plan. I think the visual arts tend to work out well that way, especially if you can land that kind of position (gaming industry, etc.).

yup sustainability is the hard part. So thats why you work towards it not exactly expecting success because the journey is more important then the goal. The more you develop at the art the more it could reflect a deeper understanding of self. I always wondered how Arthur Schopenhauer would think of modern art forms.

Yeah, that's my idea with music. You start out where you have ideas, want to make them happen, but don't know how. Then, as you get better at what you do it seems like things just fire off more on their own. With d&b, I still have a ways to go but I can honestly say that I've been an 11 year student and the longer I go with it the more I'm able to dial in on what seems to make tracks work, what doesn't, and the sound engineering is coming little by little as well. I too do this for myself, it'd be nice to press plates for a major label one of these days but I know that my heart for it still passes my innate talent by a bit - so I'm not expecting too much per say.

To me I think real learning starts in the field. So thats why I don't want to say I'm going to do this and that and make big innovations I want to but I'm going to learn more after school when I have the foundation and see how I can deviate from that without going overboard.

My ultimate desire is to be an Avant-Garde in media so thats why I picked the name. More importantly since I'm a big proponent of strong stories a Avant-Garde in storytelling as well.

Interesting idea. For some reason, at least in the past 5 or 10 years, the reason I haven't liked the avant-garde label for things is that its a bit of a condescending pejorative for what people deem too intelligent or esoteric to fit in....rather indefinitely (well, in the U.S. at least - which is why I shop for most of my music from the UK; seems they don't have the same kind of allergy quite as much). Hope you continue to put a healthy spin on it though :).

the real Avant-Garde are unorthodox and experimental in their implementation of their art. I try to find new ideas, and new ways to make game play, visual style , and overall presentation work but with that needs to be a strong story and I think since the developments in storytelling have remained more or less stagnant I want to discover some new techniques that help tell the story but are not to foreign as to confuse the viewer, player. I want to work primarily in film, and game design.

Its an issue that anyone who tries new things have to face. While there are many avant-garde works if they can't reach the public because the new way doesn't allow them to connect the dots then can it really be considered successful?

I would like to do the same for novels. The current hero plot construct is so overused it's prehistoric. Currently I enjoy doing avant garde style art, and I write a lot of free form poetry.

you forgot Abangyarudo. whose name makes me think "I bang ya around"

you made me spit out milk (wow that is going to be misconstrued and used against me. I dunno if the translation is correct but Abangyarudo means Avant-Garde in Japanese according to my japanese english dictionary.

Indeed it does. or apparently it does.

I'm definately not the most attractive guy. But I will post my picture in this thread. Maybe a better name for this thread would be aspie guys that arn't completely ugly then I would feel more confident posting the pic....

Then again looks don't matter in the end. Girls seem to be attracted to confidence and guys that seem 'cool'..

Sometimes I miss out on things. Did they post their pictures? Or are you talking about the Magnus Aspie Friendship Institute of America (M.A.F.I.A.)?? Or the Magnus Special Accumulation of Friends United (M.S.A.F.U.)???

The M.A.F.I.A?

Yeah, that is more like it. Sand is about 82 years old and I don't think he even likes me because he is a strident atheist. richardbenson hates me too I think as well as Fnord and I don't even know half of those other guys. Some of them are genuinely good looking like Zonder, Averick, Tias, Tech and Zane. Not everyone posted pics. I really don't care about looks too much anyways. Being able to butt heads and exchange ideas is attractive.
