I did not say "how much money you have". The following are 2 different things:

(1) How much money you have.
(2) Whether you are doing a good job of supporting yourself and being self-sufficient.

Related? Yes, but not the same thing. For example, #2 demonstrates maturity, whereas #1 can be had without maturity.

Not understanding this difference is demonstrating naivete. As I said, naive girls me nuts. This whole thread is a good example of how naive girls drive me nuts.

you've been arguing against my points.. inferring it's MY fault with this ridiculous theory that I'm attracting sleezebags because I'm repelling 'your sort' with my financial status.

Everything is always someone elses fault, isn't it? Never your own. Oh no, nothing could ever be your own fault.
In this case, it is *partially* your own fault. Naive girls drive me nuts.

Allow me to paraphrase your words to me:

"You still have the gall to tell me that you disagree with me! That you have a different opinion to me! HOW DARE you disagree with me! What the f*** is wrong with you, man?? Disagreeing with me?!?! Having a different opinion to me???! I politely told you that you are wrong, and you should accept this without question, because I say so. You are wrong. Accept it. Disagreeing with me is unthinkable. You opinionated a***hole!"

riley wrote:
Now.. I'm going to ask you again to please not contradict my own experiences by adding your own interpritation of them. It's presumptious and antagonistic.

I will paraphrase that too:

"Now.. I'm going to ask you again to please not contradict me. Stop disagreeing with me. Stop adding your own opinion. It's presumptuous and antagonistic for you to have a different view of the situation than mine."

Ah, so you have psychic powers as well as allegedly being pretty.

Why not use your psychic powers to scan a roomful of people, feel the energy of each of the men there, and then approach those who you know will treat you as you wish to be treated?

Emp.

I told you about seven times that inquires into my finances were not welcome and pissed me off. It is not only rude but innapropriate.. I'm surprised you don't ask my real name and address.
If I have said it is not relevent it is NOT RELEVENT. The REASON I know these guys think I'm pretty is because they TELL me and I am.. and the reason I know they want subordinate is because they ignore rejections and start trying to grope me trying to make me a subordinate. This has led to physical confrontations [punch ons]. Ever had someone stalk you.. try rape you Emp? When I was seventeen someone even held a friend and I hostage with a needle apparently with aids blood in it and told us to get into a car. We broke free and ran. Oh no.. but it must be because I'm not earning enough that I don't want to go into detail on a public forum! So full yourself as you are.. you keep inferring that there is 'something else' rather than men just acting like abusive pigs.

And you.. would you want and equal? No. You refuse to even respect and accept the word of a woman on the internet when she speaks about her OWN LIFE experiences as credible. You can f**k right off.

Well, that was enlightening. Do you plan to comment about your perplexing "Would you be willing to give up painting if you got married?" mystery that I solved above?

And just because you say so, that makes it so! If riley says something is not relevant, then it is NOT RELEVANT GAWDAMMIT!! And no-one is permitted to disagree! How can ANYONE possibly say that something is relevant after riley has said that it is not relevant? How indeed?!?! Unthinkable!

You seem to have no concept of the fact that people can and are entitled to have opinions and viewpoints which differ to your own. You seem to think that just because you say something is so, then everyone must automatically accept it or know it to be true!

--------------------
EDIT:
hmm, just now I realized that your non-comprehension of the fact that I can have a viewpoint different to your own is a symptom of autism. Here is more info about it:

Quote:
Theory of mind refers to the notion that many autistic individuals do not understand that other people have their own plans, thoughts, and points of view.
...
Interestingly, people with autism have difficulty comprehending when others don't know something.
...
By not understanding that other people think differently than themselves, many autistic individuals may have problems relating socially and communicating to other people.
...

hmm, with that in mind, I probably should not have picked on you so much for your lack of comprehending that I can have a different viewpoint. However I really did not make the connection with autistic "Theory of mind" until just now.

This is quite fascinating. I am reading more about this Theory of Mind issue. Here is a webpage by a person who describes it a bit differently, but still along the same lines. He says:

Quote:
Autistic people see others as extensions of themselves because they do not have a coherent, independent self that "separates" them from other people. Hence, their thoughts, sensations and perceptions are mixed with other people and mistaken similarly.

That explains why you said the following things to me, which seem to indicate a non-comprehension of my ability to have a different viewpoint. You are treating me like I am some part of your mind that will not behave, heh! And it offends you that this part of your mind will not obey the rest of your mind. However in reality I am not part of your mind at all.

* "I politely said it is NA with an explanation [I should know] yet again you still have the gall to tell me I'm incorrect?!"

* "If I have said it is not relevent it is NOT RELEVENT."

Emp: I think if a person says they don't want to elaborate on something personal to them, then people need to respect that. I personally do not understand why people don't like to talk about their incomes (at least online, irl is a bit different), but nevertheless if it is a topic that people do not wish to discuss then there is no benefit to be found in trying to force the information out of them.

Also, I am sure riley is very well-aware of theory of mind - pretty much all of us here have done the reading. Your attempt at condescension is so transparent that nobody is going to believe for a second in the authenticity of your apparently helpful comments.

I was never interested in riley's financial status and I never asked for that info. Why on earth would I care to know such information about her? I am not the least bit interested in that and was not making any attempt to force that information out of her. All I was doing was making a POINT that whether a person is doing a good job of supporting themselves financially is a significant and relevant point. I was NOT asking her for her financial info. If you think I did ask such a question, it was a rhetorical question, as evidenced by the statements following the question.

I suppose you are responding to riley's comment to me:

Riley, I never inquired into your finances.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search? ... stion&db=*
Notice how I continued to talk (write) without waiting for an answer to my question. That means it was a rhetorical question.
We are having a real autistic-symptom-fest here. Autistics may interpret a rhetorical question literally, thinking that an answer is expected. I would not have written it as a rhetorical question if I knew it would be misinterpreted. Maybe in future I will try to remember to avoid using them.

I never said I was trying to be helpful. Indeed, I was not trying to be helpful by posting that theory of mind info. I only posted it because it was interesting to observe that riley's behavior corresponded to the theory of mind issue.

Emp, this arguement needs to simmer down a little. From her end with saying she's able to vibe things up, I really think she's just saying that she still can read nonverbals well enough to tell what kinds of people she's dealing with, as for her financial status its pretty evident that she doesn't want to discuss that further - when your trying to argue something with somoene and they don't want to supply an answer on something that's usually the best point to just close the conversation and move on to the next thing.

I was NOT asking for her financial info or about her financial status dammit! I was making a POINT. I was SUPPLYING information, NOT SEEKING it.

Ok, but if that's where the conversation is stuck and it's not going anywhere then it's just going to degenerate. If you guys are frozen in different stances on things its like politics - your both better off realizing it's time to just drop the topic, there's no point.

riley: Anyone who asks you to give up something you love is not your friend. Not marrying such a man is a wise idea... (provided he truly meant, give it up, period). A friend loves theater and a man said after they were engaged, that she'd have to give it up. Reason: He wanted her at his disposal at home at all times. Once he got home from work she was to be at home and there for him if he needed her for any little thing. This was not her idea of a good life and she tossed the ring in his face.

Some men really do want their wives to not have any other focus except their husbands.
