How could you get bored dancing like that?!

Do you have a low sex drive?

No. It's just boring, lol. Not only that, but I'm clumsy.

Fair enough, but part of me wonders if you're not experiencing the sexual thrills to be had on the dance floor, especially dancing something like salsa. Are you dancing with partners you are attracted to?

I'm not dancing, but when I do, I don't, lol. I haven't "danced" since 2010, and that lasted two minutes with someone who I loved. The person I'm engaged to I've "play" danced with, but that was for a short time--it was to be stupid. I don't see how someone could experience any kind of sexual thrill from spinning around in a circle. Not my thing. I'd have to be attracted to someone in order to be in a relationship with that person. I'm not the type to loosely dance with anyone, or share affection, unless we're in a relationship. Is it that difficult for you to believe that some people don't like to dance? :P

Congratulations on broadside insulting every salsa dancer that has put hours and hours of practice into perfecting an art form that is oh so much more than "spinning around in a circle." =/

I'm glad that they enjoy it. I'm sure they may feel the same way about my interests: that they're pointless. Can't expect everyone to feel that dancing is something more than spinning. I put tons of time into what I do, but some people may also see it as insignificant.

^

And this has what, exactly, to do with your view of salsa as apparently nothing more than a bunch of "spinning in a circle"? Face it, you actively disrespect dancing, no shocker you don't like it. But you'd honor yourself to leave it at not liking it.

I'm indifferent toward it. That's it. I don't have anything else to say. If people like it and appreciate it, then they do and that's great for them. It's not my interest.

I don't tend to denigrate things when I feel indifferent towards them personally. Why the insulting comment, then?

I don't like dancing. I don't see what the big deal is, but that's my choice. All this respecting and disrespecting something - what?

It was never meant to insult anyone. Not really sure how it was interpreted as such. I'm allowed to express that I dislike it and what dancing means to me personally. That's what I intended for. I don't come onto Wrong Planet looking to insult people or hurt people's feelings.

Unfortunately, WP is a place where we're all prone to have misunderstandings. And I'm pretty sure that's what just happened.

Aspies are prone to such social gaffes as not realizing the implications of what they're saying. I'll take it as that. But you should be more careful about how you word things, you can seriously insult someone without intending to.

It's like this. There are NASCAR drivers out there. It takes a lot of skill to be a NASCAR driver, otherwise everyone would be trying to do it cause it pays by the truckload. While it might look like a bunch of boring zipping around in a circle, there's a whole lot more to it when you're actually driving a stock car at 200+ MPH.

And I wouldn't dare go up to any accomplished NASCAR driver and tell him that it's "just a bunch of driving in a circle", no matter how mind-numbingly boring I find the sport to be.

I'm sure I will continue to insult people unintentionally, as will you. None of us are perfect, and a lot of what is said can be misinterpreted.

Shau, you're being a bit of a berk IMO. I think you're overreacting.

If someone doesn't want to recognise the skill in NASCAR, then that's their choice. There are no accomplished drivers here. I would find NASCAR boring.

And there are no accomplished dancers here. It's not a dancing forum.

I like test cricket. I admire the skill involved and the fluctuations in play. Most people would think it was the height of tedium. I wouldn't try and defend it - it's not for everyone. I have skills that not everyone would appreciate - so what? I couldn't care less about universal respect.

^ Whenever I offend people I usually wanna know about it so that I can figure out better ways of handling similar situations in the future. When expressing your personal disinterest or dislike of something to someone clearly into that very thing themselves, it pays to be more delicate in your approach. Consider it your free social lesson from a seasoned veteran of the NT trenches.
