It really is just a small percent of the population of male gamers who flip out over female gamers. The problem is like anything else they are the loudest and therefore miss represent the population. It does however get worse as you get into the more professional and more hardcore gamers they have the mentality sports players have that competition is for guys and the thought of losing to a girl would mean their dick would shrink or something.
It ticks me off really means women have to walk around pretending they don't play games or hiding when they are on them. Also makes guys who don't care get grouped up with the losers who freak out over it.
Ok, so 'gamers' are essentially people who play games competitively and have a higher skill level kind of thing? That makes more sense to me, because if a gamer was literally somebody who just played games or any type of game then that's basically the whole population.

I am a casual gamer, interested in games like The Elder Scrolls Series, Dead Island, GTA, Guitar Hero, Minecraft, Fable etc as well as retro gaming. I do not enjoy linear games such as left 4 dead or COD, too boring. I can talk on most dudes levels for certain games. I am not an anime fangirl (I like three series tops), I'm a little bit rocky/gothic but not overly so and I spend most of my time online. Dunno what I would be classified as, but call me a gamer girl and I will fall out with you Smile
I want to get hold of The Elder Scrolls series actually because I'm recently acquired an xbox (long story) and I want more decent games for it. I've got GTA Vice City and San Andreas but I'm not a huge fan of Vice City (it's not too bad, but not ZOMG best game ever!) and San Andreas is scratched. I've been looking on gumtree and stuff but it's damn hard to find specific games, and hard to buy them without having to also buy the consoles (or whatever they're called). I've started playing GTA 3 on computer atm which is pretty damn awesome actually. I always used to play GTA 2 when I was young until I broke it - it was my favourite game actually. I did have the sims but the novelty wore off pretty quick and I got bored with it. We used to have a playstation and we had some awesome games like Hercs Adventures, Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, 3, loved crash so much I think I completed the games from start to finish several times, same with Hercules, Hercs Adventures we played multiplayer and always got so damn close to the end but never quite made it past the aliens part. But multiplayer lan strategy game playing was the best. Used to do it with family friends and in teams with my brother and cousins. I always wanted to play multiplayer AoE or warcraft 2 in multiplayer lan but after I finished school and went to college, didn't see my cousins so much as I got older, I never knew people I could play with. I always wanted to buy and play the final fantasy games as well (used to watch family friends playing them at their place) but I never did. It was always this feeling like, I love these games and wish I could play them but I just can't.
But recently I was like, screw this, I've been longing to play these games for several years so why the hell do I not just buy/set up whatever I need to do so and go for it? So I set up the xbox properly, and started playing games again. I forgot how awesome it was but I hate the games for the xbox (with the exception of GTA games obviously), I'm a playstation person through and through, I find first person shooter stressful/boring (yeah, wouldn't be a fan of cod either I don't think) and car racing boring as hell. Although I guess I never really gave first person shooter much of a chance so I probably should keep more of an open mind about it.
Babbling, sorry. I'm kind of obsessed with games atm, it's become an interest. I'm not great at playing or anything plus I'm not particularly tech savvy or know the jargon or all the latest games or play competitively or anything like that, definitely wouldn't call myself a gamer.
I love love love word games too actually, especially scrabble and boggle. I love boggle so much I used to actually make boggle sets myself if I was on holiday and didn't take my boggle game with me (I would look up the correct letter combinations for each cube online, then create 16 "open cube" crosses on word with the letters in them, print them out, then cut fold and double sticky tape each cube. I was playing words with friends on my phone for months but then my phone broke and for some reason the internet is not working on my new phone so I can't play it, which makes me really really anxious because I usually play it to destress.
